I've got a map I'm working on (Vitruvian, be on the lookout for it) and I'm down to the details. I'm even re-working it to retroactively do the budget glitch for an interesting Mongoose idea and I've been getting the "Too many objects on map. Cannot place item." response. This happened to me when I was replacing scenery and I ended up deleting that version and starting the budget glitch again from the original version. I was able to work around it after about five or six tries, and now I'm getting the same message when placing non-budget items like goal objects. I've got KOTH done, Oddball done, CTF done (both one flag and two), and I'm trying to make it playable for the Conquest Variant. I have five Territory markers placed, and I'm getting the error message when I want to place the last two. And I still need to work on Assault. argh. :squirrel_wtf: Has anyone else experienced this and know a way to either fix or circumvent the problem?
you probably have too many objects liek it says. there is a limit to how many you can place. so you probably havent gone over yet except for that one variant.
That has happened to my buddy before. He was finished with a huge map on Sandtrap that looked awesome and would have played awesome. He went to put down the respawn points and it would not let him. He had to scrap the entire project. I don't know why it happens or what you can do to prevent it, but if I know that I'm going to have a lot of stuff on a map, I'll choose a corner of the map and put every weapon and equipment I want on the map (and some extras just in case) and like 30-40 respawn points. That way I at least know I have them in the map.
Yeah Cottage and I ran into this while trying to make the 3rd map that was supposed to come out for ACMP1. We had finished like 6 of the 9 or so gametypes... and then it happened. I WAS SO PISSED!!! And yes there is a total item limit for maps.
Note that this can happen on Foundry too. Just save often, and reload an old save if it happens. Once you get it, it's hard to avoid it, however loading an old save from before you got it can often allow some extra objects. I've been doing this for a while to allow me to completely max out Foundry for a full new competitive map I'm making.
Yeah, I got the error on Foundry this time, but I've had it on Narrows and Last Resort too. I really like the idea that I have and I don't want to give it up. Guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend. It's a nice feeling to know I'm not alone in my troubles. *sniff* :squirrel_grouphug:
delete a couple objects, thats all. on at least 1 of my maps, i have them close. Hangar 02 (map in my sig) is on exactly 100
This happened to me on the very first map I edited. I wasn't happy! On a side note that's still related, if you use the unlimited budget glitch can you still hit the too many objects error?
I ended up deleting some of the starting spawns off of some of the other gametypes. I've seen a ton of Forged maps with multiple starting points for a team, yet when I looked at the default Bungie maps they only have one for each team. It allowed me to finally complete and post my map, woohoo!!
Awesome squidhands... that sounds great. And I normally do tons of starting spawns for teams cuz, I don't want teams to start spread out (as would be with my maps, the way the spawns are set up)... and I also don't want people spawning next to each other in FFA.
I've told this too many people who think the unlimited money glitch works great. Truth be told unlimited money won't help you when you can't place any more items on the map. In Wicked One and I's map Altercation, we couldn't even place one more spawn point. In your case, your just out of luck. I saw your map though and it looked good.
Hmmmm I have a theory we could test out to see if it works. the theory is you have the money glitch then you fill up the map with objects and the last ones are all the fusion coils and set instanst respawn for the coils. When you throw a grenade and have it overload the map it could glitch the map more allowing more items. If anyone realy wants to try to see if this works go ahead. this is just a guessing probably not going to work theory, but if you have some time to waste maybe you can try it out.
Wow thanks, I never would have thought that "To many objects on map" meant that. Try deleting a few objects you don't need, saving as a new map, then reloading the map. I tried this, and deleted two objects, but was able to place at least ten when I got back in.
I was able to get it set up the way I wanted as I was posting earlier, just had to delete a few starting spawns. I posted the map, called Vitruvian, if anyone wants to check out why I posted this in the first place. Since I started this post, hopefully it won't be construed as a cross-promotion no-no.
