Claustrophobia

    Feel claustrophobic on this new map meant for casual or competitive gameplay now meant to work with default Bungie gametype settings or a couple of tweaks if you want. :) My only suggestion would be is to make the respawn times smaller and not have any penalties for betrayals or suicides because of such a small map. My first competitive objective based map.

    A really closed in map symmetrical in almost all ways with a few minor differences in scenery and weapon s but everything is very balanced. Game play is lightning fast, and may go by your eyes if you don't keep up, tight corridors down under or the 'Square' on top provides for different types of gameplay and many different strategies.

    I've made it to work with every gametype (except infection and VIP) but only have 2 teams or FFA.

    There are 4 open boxes. The 4 boxes contain the 4 tools to rule the corridors.

    Power up boxes, must find your own ways into them. :) Simplest way is to go down under and come back up with the instantly spawning grav lifts.

    Please post constructive criticism and a rate. If I get positive enough reviews and comments i'll come back with a better, bigger version that will support multiple teams, multiple game and floors.

    Wow Vinny, I saw this had 17 views and no replies. And then I saw all the screenshots, wow. It's a shame that this community will have 5 people post "pics plz" if there are no screenshots but no one at all will say anything if you have 15+ screenshots. It encourages people to make crappy posts at first so that they can increase the thread reply rate when everyone complains. I, for one, want to encourage more posts like yours, so I'm definitely downloading this.

    I'm not sure how much I'll like the cramped combat of this map. I usually like a mix. I'm also interested in seeing how it is set up for other gametypes.

    Anyway, I'll try to get back here with a full review. But for now, great job on that post.

    One final note: I'm going to edit the thread title. We try to keep thread titles the same as the map name, to prevent really annoying titles with unnecessary symbols or all caps. I know yours isn't nearly that bad, but I need to try to be fair.

    I would also like a mix of cramped areas and open arenas, but seeing how the map theme is tight corridors, that's just something you're gonna have to deal with if you download. As I will.
    Why exactly won't it work with VIP and Infection?

    I suppose it could work with infection but I haven't set down any spawns for VIP or infection. I never really had it in mind because its such a closed quarters map. I usually play infection with 50% gravity and 300% speed so that people who become infected aren't discouraged to leave. I will most likely edit it soon within a week for up to 4 teams and all gametypes.

    As of right now though, it should work with all including slayer, oddball, assault, CTF, Juggernaut, KOTH. And all of Bungies default settings for each gametype.

    I like the look of your map, but from looking at the pics I'm seeing two things. First, there's a few spawn points cluttered together in a small space, so is there a possible spawn kill camp there? Second, and this is a personal preference, I'm not sure about having a few weapons bundled together in one spot.

    Having said that haven't played it just yet, it's queued, and I'll go have a look!

    By the way, I like the camo, overshield lcoations, I did something similar to that in one of my maps, but the grav lifts were permanent.

    Hmm. First of all, I wouldn't put a lot of weapons close together, it seems kind've poinless. Another, here's a math problem for you:
    Shotgun + Regenerator = noobs camping

    I love the close arenas. I'll definitely give this a DL and check it out. One thing: I hate it when weapons are placed that close together... it gets hard to choose which one you're picking up. You might want to space them out more, or just have the key ones respawn faster.

    The weapons are all bundled together with pretty easy access from each team. From all the games I have played there wasn't any spawn camping possible. Possibly on slayer, but on all objective type gametypes spawn camping shouldn't be to much of a problem. The powerup locations were originally going to have permanent grav lifts but I felt as if it would be a little difficult especially under pressure (getting in quickly to save time for oddball or KOTH or whatever) so I just put down a instantly respawning grav lift.

    All weapons aren't really together. Just those 4 down there. Each weapon should be able to counter act with each other. Grenades and a hammer shot at anyone who camps along with rockets/fuel rod cannon should be taken out pretty easily.

    If it's a big problem when I edit this map again i'll space them out much more creatively and possibly if not able to do that then i'll find a way so that everyone feels like there not to close at all.

    OK, I just looked at this map in game. I really like the size and geometry. The snipers seem strange on such a small map, but that's a question of taste. I still think you should cut down on the weapons in that corner... maybe just the plasma pistol and 2 maulers. And I'm not sure what I think about having the hammer And the sword AND the flamethrower all within 10 feet of each other down bottom. I'd choose 2 of the 3. Also, this map could really benefit from some more intense interlocking on the top level... it's a bit jaggy in some spots, but they're not really foot-traffic intensive.

    I like the two jumping exits from the bottom (one of which is easily blown away by grenades), adds a little depth to the map. If you fixed all the things I mentioned: 4.3/5

    I'll most likely take away the maulers while leaving two so it stand a chance but i'll re-test with one. I'll take away all those plasma pistols and magnums. The flame thrower as well. No one really uses either though. I just didn't like the idea of one box being empty or just full of scenery with no significance to gameplay, that was the reason for the maulers and all the weapons being in those boxes.

    I agree with some other posters, there are too many weapons around. But I'll go so far as to say that there is too much stuff around, especially grenades. I would recommend removing one grenade from every location. Just because you can carry two spiker grenades, doesn't mean there needs to be two of them there. I love grenades, but I think there are just too many here.

    Also, why bother with the needler or the BR? I'd rather grab a shotgun or a mauler and some of the plentiful nades.

    I am also concerned about the respawns. I know you said there was little or no spawn camping, but it just looks like there would be. I never played an actual game here so I don't know for sure.

    But I really like the layout of the map. The geometry is very nice, it's just the weapon and item placement that I have issues with. But then, everyone has different tastes. Good map.

    The most i've played is 4x4 and it's a little hectic. I'll remove grenades and add spawn points down under.

    It looks ok, I don't see whats so special about your structure/building. It might make for a nice home design project but I'm not saying this because it doesn't have a roof, its because nothing makes it stand out to me. I have seen many buildings created and this one looks no different than some others I have seen. Some aspects look good though, I'm not too sure about the weapon placement though. Good efforts.

    i could grenade of hamer jump out so i would mak a roof or higher walls

    Bubonic, if people do this, we just boot them. Its a waste of scenery and time trying to block off maps from noobs.

    i made a map call claustrophobia but it was too uneven this one looks much better and more cramped
