__________________________________________"Bless this mess!" This thread may not reach "Forge Hub's Quality Standards" and may require clean up.__________________________________________ Sup. I'm new to the forums, I forge some maps every now and then and have actually seen a lot of maps since I had too huge map databases in Bungie. Anyway, on to our map: Fort Xeraxes This is Fort Xeraxes. (Yes, I named it after myself, it's pronounced "Zirakseez") The map consists of 2 very large forts, one fort (defensive) is at one end (This is Fort Xeraxes): Click Me! The Other (offensive) fort is at the other end (both "default bases" are connected now): Click Me! Both forts are completely symmetrical. And both have 2 mini armories. Here is one of the armories for the Deffensive Fort (this version is a little bland so I've changed the actual map a bit): Click Me! Fort Xeraxes also has a second floor which leads to where the flag/bomb spot is. It also has a flamethrower and 2 turrets (as seen on the second picture). Click Me! The offensive base's armory is pretty much the same as the defensive base's, however it has more weapons to guarantee a huge assault (the armories on both sides of the offensive base are the same): Click Me! However, the offensive base also has 2 "Captain's Spawns" where a random player will start off the match standing in front of that: Click Me! The map itself is lots of fun to play and generally meant for larger parties of 12 people and up. (However it will also work for 4v4 or 5v5). Also, the map is compatible with every game type (even infection, but not as much). I've also edited the weapons so that some will only appear on certain games. (There are no snipers on 1 flag games for example). Teamwork is very important and on 8v8 the game is insane! Enjoy. If you have any suggestions (such as weapon spawn times and such), feel free to post them here.
it looks nice but i recommend you have some of the walls and floors connected together so there interlocked, so its one flat thing because usually you have to jump over a wall if its on top of something and it makes things neater.
Yea I've already thought of that, and the it's fine, the entire second floor is perfectly adjacent (with the exception of 2 fence walls that I put there just so you don't fall down).
First off, please embed pictures otherwise no one will download this. Code: Other than that, I checked out the pictures for you. Looks like you need to interlock like Mistake said. Also it looks like there are way too many weapons and power-ups on the map. I am guessing 1 Flag CTF is the main game type, you should put that some where. I recommend you fix some of your errors. Maybe you should test this map out before you post it so you know it works. (Seeing as you are the only one in the game walking around).
As I said I've already done the interlock thing, there are only 2 spots (because it's symmetrical) that have a bump. It looks kinda bad from the pick by it works fine on the game. I'm the only one walking around because I did a game for the pictures. I've already tested this map out in a few games. (Why else would I say "Teamwork is very important and on 8v8 the game is insane!") And for larger parties the amount of weapons and power-ups works out based on what spawn time I put on them. Can anyone actually try out the map and then give input?
I like the look of it. I'll check it out and give you feedback. Before i do, i'll give you some feedback based on the pictures alone. First, edit your post, so that instead of having the "Click Here", the pictures are actually in the post like this: Code: That way it meets the requirments, and the mods will get rid of that ugly "Bless This Mess" tag at the top of your post. Second, i've noticed comments on a lot of other maps that indicate most people don't like "armories" that have lots of weapons. Also, on the same note, try to avoid having too many "power weapons". It would be better to strategically place certain weapons around the map, where they can be effective, but balanced. This helps create movement around the map, forcing players to risk their necks for the reward of greater power. It also creates a greater sense of strategy with regard to ammunition usage.
Actually, I originally did post the actual pictures, however when I posted the thread they because WAY too big and you could see only a corner of them. I also completely understand what you mean by armories, I used to have a thread of good maps on Bungie and I learned about that. However this map is an exception because it's a Fort v Fort area and I want players to enter a battle ground with a role (Captains with Overshields and Hammers, Heavy gunners with fuel rod guns, etc.). In the first few versions of the map I tried very hard no to put too many power weapons (specifically on the offensive base), but that didn't work very well and when tried it again with some more big guns it became very intense! However you've got a point, I'll have to edit the weapons a bit (specifically for Slayer). But first I want to see the general reaction and get some more tips before I start the second version.
Ok, i played around on it a bit. I'm going to stick with what i said about the armories and the massive amount of weapons placed on this map, but i understand wanting more feedback before making changes. We'll see what others think. I really like the layout of the main base, but i think it needs some 2nd floor repairs. There are a lot of areas where the floor is uneven and you get stuck trying to move around. When you move on to V2 try to use the object interlocking trick to fix this. Also, i'm not sure what the point is of having 2 turrets at the top, right next to each other. One is sufficient to cover the map, and it spreads out the players better, making for more interesting gameplay. Last, if you do get rid of weapons (please), then use the added budget to place more scenery in the bases to liven them up a bit. One final note regarding posting pics. I did notice that your screens are too huge to embed. Use the code below instead to embed the pics. It will shrink them down when embedding them, so they can be seen in your post, but it will allow viewers to click on them to see the full size image: Code: Hope this helps!
Thanks a lot. I'm going to lessen the amount of power weapons. Are there any weapons in particular that you think I should get rid of? I'm definitely going to have to get rid of the sentinel beams. But I want to fill it up. I'll have to use more plasma rifles I guess. I kept two turrets because the first time I played with them it worked out very well since I had a partner. I'll probably get rid of it though. PS Is there a certain trick for interlocking?
Weaksauce, for what Foundry has to offer and against what other people are creating. Good efforts though.
