Sorry but I've been asking around and can't find anything so I figured I'd post this question. How are the "wisps" (Lightish beams that wrap around objects?) done in GIMP? If you have a tutorial link or a tutorial just post it. If its not possible to do it in GIMP just say so.
mkay... you can do it... I'll tell you, but it may seem confusing. First you choose the two colors as your fg and bg (foreground background) making your fg color much lighter than your bg, but in the same color range (example dark blue light blue) Make a new layer. Make your own brush, make sure it is pretty small, depending on the size of the sig. KEEP THE BRUSH EDITOR UP!!! Then you choose the paths tool, just use the paths tool to run around the object or person you want it to wrap around. Go to shade path or something (sorry don't have GIMP around me) then be sure to use the paintbrush tool for it. Next create a new layer, remember the brush editor I told you to keep up? Make sure you make that brush size you just did about twice the size of the previous one. Shade path again, but this time with your BG color. Be sure to choose the paintbrush again. Then go to filters>blur>gausian blur set the gausian blur to 10 for both. Okay now your done with coloring the path. Next go erase parts of it (you will have to merge down a layer) to make it look like it is wrapping around them. hope that helped!
Thanks randal. could you put urs up too, if its different, so that i can have something to refrence it against?
Well i heard somewhere else that you need photoshop to do it .. What is up with that? I'm gonna try wisps on next sig for either myself/someone else .. Thanks for the tut
