    Map Title: Mini Sidewinder
Best Remake available!/I took a lot of time on this map and set it up for CTF, Slayer, Assault, King of the Hill, and Oddball gametypes. It is fully functional with two bases and a complete center section just like the original only scaled to fit in Fountry.

    Download Map

    Description:
Overhead view of the middle section.

One of the bases. theres a teleporter to the teleporter road on the side with the sniper and shotgun.

Front of the middle area with the overshield area and the center top of middle
    [IMG]

One of the teleporter roads with manditory rocket launcher

As any true fan of Sidewinder will tell you, the bottom middle section needs "The Bars" section to fight through with inviso and overshield

I'm glad u added the part with the bars, but i basicly think Sidewinder can't be remade very well with the tools available to us.

I highly suggest you try it before you make that decision. I think you'll be very surprised!

As a fan of Sidewinder, I'll give this a download and check it out. Nice job on those bars.

By the way, I'm very optimistic that one of the next maps to be released by Bungie is going to be a Sidewinder remake. I can't wait! Hopefully this will tide me over until then.

Cottonball does sound like its going to be a Sidewinder remake. Lets hope so.

Because even if this map is amazing....nothing will ever compare to the actual thing.

Let me know what you think and post a reply. Had I known about interlocking when I made this I could have improved it but I think I'll just concentrate on my next map instead. But as far as using the available space, this is by far the best that could be done and make it like the original.

Seeing as you don't have a ton of space to work with, this looks like a good remake. Queued.

the bars look sweet but foundary is to small to recreate sidewinder.

its hard to believe how large some maps were when you look at the size of Foundry and think it can't contain them. I usually call this a Mini-Sidewinder.

Well, I think this map was passable. It doesn't play like sidewinder though. The limits in vehicles due to space constraints severely hinder the map for me. Also, it was way too easy to nick both rocket launchers. Seeing as the map isn't that big, you might consider just getting rid of the teleporters all together. Also, could reach both powerups through bars. And you might want to consider setting the runtime max a bit higher on the sword, so it doesn't highlander.

Sorry if that was jumbled and confused.

Obviously Foundry is smaller than the original Sidewinder but this looks decent with the space you have available, so nice

I'm not sure if you've played Sidewinder on Halo 1 before but....
The Rocket Launchers were easy to get by one person on the original map, they usually only had 2 rockets per and a high respawn. You always had to keep that in mind when you started playing each game. The Teleporters were a major part of the fun of that map.
Both Power ups were always available to one person no matter which side of the bars you were on, on the original Sidewinder. Yet another reason the bars were a popular place to be and was necessary to have a way to fight between them on both sides. Although I wish I could have more room in the mid section to make the area larger. It was also a popular place to pass the flag between halves of the map more safely.
I agree that the sword probably needs a longer respawn, I honestly can't remember if I set the time when I placed it, so that will need a tweek.
The size of foundry kind of limits vehicles such as Warthogs so I placed the Mongooses instead. I was never super easy to drive around the "U" shape of the map anyways because of rockets, snipers and ice.
Hope that clears up why I made the decisions I did on the map.
