Whenever I make competitive maps, I can create amazing gameplay but i'm horrible with aesthetics (considering i dont think a map has to look good to play good.) The problem is nobody thinks my maps are good because of the lack of interlocking/geomerging/aesthetics. So I make mini-games, but I love to make competitive.

Can you guys just list some things below that I can use to make my maps look better.

    Thanks to whoever comments.

    Steal from the best

You should first find a map that you think has incredible aesthetics......and try to copy it. See what the people building maps you like are up to when they build. It will make you better at aesthetics.

Well first off let me say, aesthetics are actually a big deal for some people in maps. a lot of people dont like playing on messy maps, it's kind of distracting. so when making competitive maps, you gott have OCD. make every interlock and geomerge as perfect as you can get it, even if it takes you 30 minutes to straighten a wall out. if a geomerge turns out crooked, try it again. if in interlock has that glitch where its flashing and overlapping, redo the interlock. Straighten EVERYTHING.

Now, Another thing with aesthetics, people like to see a couple barrels or pallets around so the map doesnt look bare. but do NOT overstuff your map with barrels, crates, and pallets.

Next, Structures. People like to see unique structures in maps, they really draw the eye. A very recent map, Martydom, by BlazeIsGod, makes a perfect example of that. The map has "pipes" that you cant necessarily walk on, but they look beautiful and provide some cover. That's what actually lead me to download that map, the aesthetic features.

so that's all i got for now, i hope it helps.

    thanks to you two.

I'm not saying my maps are messy, they are just i guess bare and people always post interlock this, when There is no reason to do it

    Not Mandatory

Interlocking is not mandatory, but if you don't use it you map will probably turn out a little boxy. Merging objects together is what will make your structures unique, and it sounds like that's what you're looking for. Think about it right now.........I'll bet nobody has ever merged a _________ with a _________. Fill in the blanks and go try it out.
