This map is built for Infection game types. The house covers almost all of foundry's open area. There are 6 main parts to the haunted house: northeast wing, northwest wing, southeast wing, southwest wing, the back alleyway, and the basement. The 4 wings each have 1 entrance which would make it an easily defendable position. These wings also include many weapons (not too powerful weapons to make the game fair). The back alleyway has dumpsters which to hide from the ghost. The alley also has a fun secret I hope you will find (it helps fight the zombie), but can only be found through teamwork. The basement is considered the last fallback position but that's your opinion. This room has many equipment options and a custom power-up to help you fight the ghost. Don't ask me why the mongoose is there, I just like putting mongooses in my maps. This map also has a story line: the "explorers" (humans) venture upon a transylvanian town where rumors and superstition about the haunted house run wild. You speak to one of the villagers who say the owner of the house died a horrible death and now haunts the house. First and foremost, the screenshots are small, and small=phail. Also, what makes your haunted house different from the others I have seen? This looks like some work was put in though, so I commend you for that.
Yay for bigger and better screenshots! See because you changed the screenshots my opinion of the map has totally changed. This looks a lot more fun than it did originally but my question still stands as to what separates this one from the other haunted houses? Other than that good fix and nice work.
I'm glad the pictures came out good. As for your other question I made tight corners to scare you when you venture through the house thinking, "ok this house isn't so big so the ghost must be close..." Also the many bottlenecks at the entrances for the 4 wings provide for good defenses and fallback points.
Why is there a custom power-up on the map if there's no custom gametype? Also, some of your spawns would spawn players facing the wall.
I have two issues with what I've seen in the screenshots. 1.) If its a teleporter, it can and probably will be camped, but this can be made slightly less of an issue by raising them into the air or finding a slightly different method of fast transportation. 2.) The custom power-up and no custom game type? Also unless you intend this to be fair game for both the zombies and humans its a major hazard and a powerful objective for the zombies to claim.
You have to remember this map was posted on the casual map section, which means this map relies on honor rules in order to be a fun game. And the reason I did not make a gametype for the custom powerup was because people had differing ideas on what exactly the powerup should do like should it make the person invisible like the zombie? or faster than a regular person? Or have super powerful weapons? I left it to the audience to decide what the powerup should do.
In the last screenshot it seems like its pretty easy to jump ontop of the walls and out of the map. Other than that it looks good.
haunted house is pretty anti escape proof. But if you do manage to find a way out you can just change the gravity. I am also working on a gametype for this map, it should be done shortly
this map does remind me a little of my own map called close combat, its basicly walls set up in a maze like this, and yes i used i's to represent walls, its tigt space is great for infection, and for thos who will try and steal the idea, ill pwn you! i i i i i i ii i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i
