What's everyones source of inspiration when they make their maps? I've recently got my inspiration from watching modern marvels on the history channel. They show how people used innovative ideas to do certain things and I try to apply those same ideas to my forging.
i get inspiration in a cuple of steps.. 1. i figre out what type of map i want to make 2. i try to think of how i can put 4 teams in the map 3. i think of how i would like to make symetry option 4. i start forging this is my method.. feel free to copy
I take stuff out of movies, shows or books. My map SpaceAge (link and vid in my signature) was inspired by Apollo 13 and I'm making a map now inspiredby Indiana Jones.
trying to be original, wanting to be a pro at making maps, wanting to be known throughout the community
My maps just come to me whenever. Ill be sitting in class and say to myself..."you know what would be cool", or my friends and i are just randomly doing stuff in forge and i will make something that i will base an entire map around
I'll first think about what would be cool/awesome/never-done-before, then start forging while thinking more along the way. Yes I know my method sucks and I end up deleting stuff in a buget glitched map, but that way, I can incoperate new ideas I have about the map during forging, rather than waiting until V2.
I work in a call center, and so my mind literally has nothing to do for hours on end while my mouth, ears, and fingers do all the work for me. Ideas come pretty quick when you're sitting there doing absolutely nothing...
Well, they just come. I think of a theme, then create a backstory idea, and just go off from there. My most recent map I have been working on started with the name Ambrosia, the title to one of my favorite Alesana songs, and it took off from there.
