Well, I was looking for an alternate tool to make halo 3 maps on than the foundry designer. One that I could actually fly around in and see what it would be like in 3d. First, I stumbled across google sketchup. At first it was hard to use, and I played around with it for about ten minutes until I got bored. It just seemed a little too hard to work with when you just had a blank canvas. So I went searching again. What I found was a downloadable foundry canvas that you could import into google sketchup with objects like stairs, walls, and bridges already made for you. It was on MLG.com, and there were only three comments. I searched in the forge hub engine to see if anyone else had discovered this canvas. I didn't see any threads. So I made this one. Go check it out here. You'll need to download the free google sketchup program first and briefly read the thread at MLG to learn how to paste the objects in your map. This looks pretty cool. Nice find! I think what would be cool though (which I think is against forgehub rules to post, but I am only talking about it) is if one of these programs could pass the code into halo and build the map for you, so that you could skip using forge entirely. But, this would obviously be against rules and people could abuse it.....by modding a map with it. Oh well I will stop going on about something that doesn't exist, anyway I already knew about google sketch up, but have never used it....I may just check it out.
Yeah I saw this a few weeks ago on google, I was surprised. I wanted to download this to see if it can compare with AutoCAD or CATIA, since i use both of those i was going to download it, but i never had time. When I started forging more in the past week or so I actually thought of your plan of using sketch up, but it probably wouldnt help me since my maps are still weak sauce
