Skittlemeister0's Guide to Weapon Placement: - Rocket Launchers - Now, I know I have made two so far, but I feel like helping those who frequently misplace those nasty tubes of smoke and destruction, named the Rocket Launcher. These beasts are always either placed with too much ammunition, too short a respawn time, too close to other power weapons, etc. Please, whenever making a map, realize these should be carefully placed. They should have long repawn times and small ammunition counts, for these traits boosts up the urge to go and fight for it and dominate the field with it. Whenever I visit a map during Forge Mode, I check these certain weapons first off: Sword, Hammer, Sniper, Shotgun, and Rocket Launcher (and all of their Covenant counterparts, if they exist on the map). Most of the time, these are way to Noobishly (pardon my grammar) set, with high ammo counts and short spawn times. I would be so glad if you can all pay attention to me so you dont end up like these people: Horrible map-makers. Rocket Launchers ________________________________________________________________ They must be tamed. A newbie's dream, the Rocket Launcher is most likely the first thing you go after in a game that has this weapon on it. Well, when you do, be careful. There will be fifteen other people there with you. Then you decide to go after the Fuel Rod- Wait, what? What did I just say? Why is there a Fuel Rod Cannon on the map with a Rocket Launcher?! They are the same thing, people, you must realize that. Even though they have slightly different firing rates and differing ammunition, does not mean there can be both on the same map (unless this map calls for it, like a map based on the map Avalanche, which usually needs more than one, but only if it is big enough). Don't place an FRG with a SPNKr. It ruins the game. Now, during Forge, your most likely going to put the Rocket Launcher in the middle. Good idea, but not the best. Be original. Do something different. On one of the 1v1 Forgehub maps (I do not remember which, it was so long ago), there was a pit with a rocket launcher that required jumping down, and then you were shot back up. Perfect! Make that happen and you shall be loved. IMPORTANT! Please do not place more than one Rocket Launcher of the same species (UNSC, or Covenant) on maps smaller than what calls for them. It's dumb, alright? One little idea I had once, and I am now giving away, is make rocket launcher hard to reach, then hard to get out of. The idea was: Have a SPNKr in a box, right? Have that box high up, with windows but no doors, for hooting but no escaping. You could access this place by any means, teleporter, grav-lift, whatever. But the point was, the Rocket Launcher now becomes a sort of Sniper. Use this to take down groups of enemies, but be careful with your shot! A little note that I read in Linubidix's Sniper manual, was that if you do have a Rocket Launcher, and someone else does, and one of you dies in a conflict, you can pick up his ammunition, making it impossible for the other team to recieve it. But if they have an FRG, then you can't do anything about it, unless you pick it up yourself. ________________________________________________________________ FORGING ________________________________________________________________ When placing Rocket Launchers in Forge, do not place them near a powerful equipment type, such as a regenerator, or a Power Drain, for it then makes the opposing player susceptible to death and having no comeback. Also, never place an Overshield, Active Camo, or Cutom Powerup by one, either. When you do this, this makes the player too powerful, making him into a juggernaut, and cannot be easily stopped. It would be recommended you place the Launcher far away, as to not make the map to unbalanced. Your Rocket Launcher comes in handy when knocking out enemy vehicles, not when driving in them. Do not place the SPNKr's by vehicles, but instead make them useful in destroying them. It is much more fun, and helps very much in Team Slayer, or Capture the Flag if the carrier is in the vehicle. ________________________________________________________________ I hope this guide helped you at all in the way the others did. Please comment and provide feedback!
Umm.. you realize Linu was going to do one of these correct? I believe you are trying to steal his thunder, I personally went out and did something that didn't have too much to do with his ideas. Some of your posts were kind of rude, rather than helpful, rather than calling someone a dumbass expand on why you shouldn't put power ups by the rocket launcher... even though it may be common sense, some may not know that, and that's why its a guide, okay?
That's fine, I would just stay totally away from the weapon placement guides, because he's probably going to do everything.
ummmm it works like that for beam rifle but FRG runs on ammo too so if you do have two fuel rod guns you will be able to simply pick up its ammo in that situation -_-(please know something about a weapon before you say anything) this is the same scenario as in yes there CAN be two fuel rod guns on the same map k?
Fuel Rod Gun ≠ Rocket Launcher apart from the obvious firing rates and more importantly the amount of damage they do, they have completely different purposes, the rocket launcher is generally placed with a small clip, and is used for taking out vehicles entirely (ie. destroying them) whereas the Fuel Rod Gun is used mainly on close to medium ranged infantry in conjunction with a BR or other medium ranged weapon to allow for the FRG to take down the shields and the second weapon to clean up the kills. Also Fuel Rod Blasts have different physics, they travel slower, and have the ability to bounce within the first few seconds of being fired. EDIT: nice move neg repping me for merely pointing out my point of view... (that's right i know it was you Skittles)
the rep system is retarded... Anyways, nice little guide. It was helpful, although there was a few things I don't agree with.
