    As I posted on the bnet site, incredible job on the track. I'm spending more time Forging right now than actual playing, and I must say that I'm incredibly impressed with what you've done. It must have been such a pain in the ass to get that all down the way you wanted. Congrats on a great map.

    The loop is definately the best I have seen out there as well...and the banked turns, like the "bungie 500" are so perfectly spaced, it must've taken forever!

    Great work!

    As for the number of racers....on most of the Mongoose race maps I've made, I've just put all the geese out with enough spawns for them all....you just never know when there will be more folks in the room, and it's always great to be able to accomodate them.

    I just played it, and it's really fun to go around it. Well made. But if you do it w/o the mongoose, it's an EPIC FAIL!!

    Actually you can do the loop with all vehicles (except the wraith ....wont go up the ramp ;) ) As for the rest of the track...it was designed with the mongoose in mind, so other vehicles don't work as well. However, I would say that "EPIC FAIL" is a bit harsh :-*

    It's just fun to say EPIC FAIL!!! I meant without a vehicle, btw. It's very fun, and I haven't tried it with other vehicles yet...

    This is a brilliant map, had a couple of thoughts:
    • Is there an associated gametype? Would be more fun with a dedicated race type. I tried Rocket Race, but the checkpoints aren't on the racetrack.
    • As mentioned, it's way to easy to skip half the track by turning right off the hanging bridge into the mainfield, instead of following it to the left.
    • The starting line is a little wonky, half the time your Mongoose rolls over right off the start.

    1. There is no true associated GT, it was designed around slayer. There is a race GT in my fileshare with invinc, pistol start, etc.

    2. I had to make a decision when designing the map; either try to make something that got rid of honor rules, or just make a fun map to screw around on. Because Bungie had already made "rocket race" and I was sure others (such as Glimflicker's Bungie 500) were working on these type of no honor rules maps, I decided to go the other route and just make a map that is a lot of fun and is visually appealing. A place to just play around in outside of the competetive nature of the game. (although you can actually race on this track, My buddies and I have a ton of fun knocking eachother off the bridge :) .)

    3. The mongi are place where thay are in order to accomidate for fewer players. I noticed when playing race maps that the spare mongi that were not being used always got in the way on the second lap, so my solution was to put the vehicles on a raised platform out of the way of the track itself. (there is a yellow line right by the start that works well as a start line)

    Thanks for the good feedback/comments, really shows that you played the map. In the future I may redesign (or make new) the map in order to do a "no honor rules" race. But, for me Halo has always been about killin dudes, and this was a good way to take a break from that without leaving the game.....

    I enjoy these maps so much that I went into Forge and did some tweaking, plus created a pair of gametypes to go with the maps. Now they play as real race maps without requiring too much of the honor system.

    Map changes: VIP checkpoints are laid out along the actual race track, so players are motivated to stay on the track. Fixed all the starting points so that they are next to the Mongeese, with Rocket Race team pairs starting next to each other. Shortened the respawn time for most of the Loop fusion coils so that it's more dangerous going through the minefields (I never got hit before). Added a little ramp to the Loop map starting section so that Mongeese don't flip over from the start.

    Game types: VIP game types with a similar mechanism to standard Rocket Race, except that goals spawn in order along the race track. You lose points for killing other players, so players are motivated to stay on their Mongeese and race instead of getting into beatdown contests.

    • Race FFA: Set up so that players can race as individuals, not as teams. VIPs allowed to drive vehicles. Everybody gets the green gun (plasma pistol) so you can slow other players down if you get knocked off your car. Goals spawn in order, vehicles are indestructible, points lost for killing other players.
    • Seq Rocket Race: Sequential Rocket Race, based off the Matchmaking Rocket Race playlist with a few minor tweaks. Goals spawn in order, vehicles are indestructible, points lost for killing other players.
    • Circus JBW: Solar's map with the addition of VIP goals and unified starting points.
    • Loop JBW: Solar's map with the addition of VIP goals and unified starting points.

    I'm no Forge expert, and only have limited patience, but these feel like they play smoother now.

    This looks way awesome! Great work! I had been working on a loop but gave up shortly. Glad to see someone out there was able to accomplish this! Downloading it now. Looks like I'm going to be having a lot of fun on this map. Keep up the good work!

    This is my favorite race map so far. I had to edit the VIP goal point (I just put it in the midpoint between the two general spawn areas - the offices), though. And if you could spare a grav lift or man cannon (I didn't check), you could add them to make it difficult to cheat.

    I just joined this website, i fiinally found this... I know this was way better than tx giant, but i finally made the best loop ever. Is slower and bigger than this and its so smoothe w/o using shield doors like yours. It will be out friday...

    This map is one of my favorites. i do fall off just a tad too much though. overall, it's simple and complex at the same time

    This is my favorite racing map and my brothers will never stop bugging me to play this and your other map Circus there both great nice work!
