If you don't like country music, dont spam the thread...

This debate is which era of country music is better:
Old Country (Jerry Jeff Walker, etc...)
    New Country (Kenny Chesney, etc...)

Just say which one is better and why

While I'm not a personal fan of country music, I'd have to say new country music is better simply for the fact that its more accessible to the general public. That is to say it's more mainstream.

I liked the oldass country that was more like folk music than pop music.

Although I don't really listen to Country, it's just my preference.

I'm not a huge fan of country anyways ,but the new stuff is much better. The current country tells a new and original story during the sone whilst the old stuff is about trucks and dogs.

    flood, your confused.
Old country is not about trucks and dogs. Your listening to the wrong songs. It is full of songs that tell a story with lyrics
New country sings about non-country stuff, just with the same instruments

I'm a diehard country fan (even though I'm not that knowledgeable on the subject), but probably tend towards older country. I love the blues as well, and I think country was at its best when it really was the "white mans blues". I must say I don't know what counts as old though, I'm really into Jerry Reed and am pretty sure thats safely old.

    Play tha' geetar son..

I actually listen to country, the main reason for this is because of Texas I thought why not embrace it instead of Fight it. I prefer the older country Like Towns Van Zandt, Bob Wills and Hank Williams the 1st (Hank Jr. is fail). There is hope for country tho Listen to Hank Williams III he has some great stuff and he plays Metal and punk at his concerts. I don't listen to the radio tho (this is a personal preference) I find the main country station The Wolf sound to generic. If I do (I'm saying this lightly)listen to the radio I listen to The Ranch. I just realized I'm talking as if y'all know what I'm talking about. I will just post some of my favorite Country now. I really just feel like throwing my two cents in to this thread.

Where I live (bit ways from nashville) 90% of the radio stations are country so I like country. Back on topic I like new country because its all I listen to. BTW the ranch is about 15 miles away and the wolf is in nashville if we listen to the same thing.
