That is just what happens when so many people come together like this. I think in the beginning (yes, I lurked back then, maybe not since the beginning but for awhile), ForgeHub was new, and a small community. A community, that was 'more skilled and creative' at forging. And when people were introduced to ForgeHub and see the amazing creations, they signed up to be a part. Then more people joined, and more people joined. But as with pretty much everything else, not everybody can be totally outstanding, as shown by the majority of the maps now seen. That doesn't mean there still isn't the same amount of good maps, they are just much harder to find. But does that mean we still shouldn't look for these maps? Of course not, these are the types of maps that started ForgeHub. The original, creative, balanced, and fun maps. Now maybe the overall focus of these maps have changed, from new creative gametypes to competitive maps made for the built-in gametypes, but they are still there. Maybe some don't like this change, but, as been stated multiple times before, change happens. As for the "needs more interlocking" comments, that again is what happens when so many people join. The majority of the people don't understand what it really takes to make a great map. That, combined with people following the crowd, lead to all these comments. Of course nobody likes to see them, but that is what people have to deal with. What I'd like to see is a special map section, where people can go to see the ForgeHub maps of old. Maybe select a certain few to nominate maps for this section? I don't know how it would work, but I do agree that something needs to be done, although I still love ForgeHub.
^^^^^ We can make an effort to make map comments not suck, map posting was the same way for a long time but now most people understand how to at least post a map through the examples already set. I actually think this site needs a medium as far as maps go. At first I was wondering where all the maps with a competitive focus were, and then the labyrinth came along and since then most maps have been similar with more interlocking and generally worse layouts. These could be fixed but none of the mods/admins seem to want to actually do much about it. Call to action?
holy **** i forgot what my own thread was about lol..ya'll gotta stop going off topic yes im not warned anymore!!!!my sig is back!!!yay!!
Point was that any map no matter how good it is would be better with interlocking. You just can't deny that a smooth running map with no bumps is better than a smooth running map with bumps.....even if it is just one bump.
IMO, if someone intends to make a competitive map, it should be for all gametypes, and work with any variation.
Time to stick my oar in again Whether or not you agree with Interlocking, I don't think it can be denied that the forum has become overrun by people who only care about it. There are a large number of maps that are more concerned with being interlocked than having good gameplay. But as has been said, I think Interlocking does make a map better. It's just that people don't seem to get that the map has to be good in the first place to benefit from it. I don't even know who I'm agreeing with any more, it all got kind of confused, and we've jumped topics like 8 times, but there is, in my opinion at least, a problem not with the maps being produced by the community, but with a fairly large proportion of the community itself. But like just about everyone else in the thread has said, when lots of people congregate, you're going to be stuck with at least a few problem cases.
