Well here the general idea. Virtual free roaming multi player massive map game. If you ever heard of EVE Online and liked the vasity of it but wanted to see your character well this concept would do this. This is a new generation idea but a new generation thinker. Either you like the idea or you don't but either way we do have the technology to perform this but no one believes we can. I ask the player, would you like to roam the seven Installations and the Ark? Maybe have big team battles with a couple thousand a team? Or maybe you are the type that likes to lay waste to your enemies with a MAG Gun. Technology is here the concept his here the believer's are not.

i think that is a really cool idea but for some players im sure they would be turned away because the vast majority of halo players prolly arent hardcore mmorpg fans. (or they would be playing wow)

there was speculation prior to halo 3 being announced that Bungie was currently in development of an MMO set "in the Halo universe"

sadly, it was just speculation...or is it?!?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Although Halo Wars might be close to what you're thinking of, since it's an RTS. You know, WoW stemmed from the Warcraft RTS, so maybe. But god, that would suck.

i think what he means is a massive open world that is just a constant FPS war going on at all times?

i think Endwar is supposed to be something like that.

It sounds like a hell of an endeavor, but it is possible. I doubt it'll achieve full FPS functionality, especially if it's intended to be an "everyone, everywhere" style MMO (think WoW or some other popular MMO that I don't play), mostly due to the ease of hacking, the tremendous lag, and the size the world would have to be in order to not feel packed shoulder-to-shoulder. The AI for enemies would be awful, and fghting in an area with more than a handful of other players would result in chaos (not just in the amount of action, but in the amount of lag), and there would be a major departure from the actual Halo universe if you wanted any depth or reason to play for more than a month. In the end, it would be better to make a whole other francise for this, and most likely not an FPS, for this to work. Now if you do mean an EndWar-styled FPS where all the battles are in small deathmatches with win/loss ratios tallied weekly to show a battle progress bar or map or grid or whatever the hell you want, then yeah, that would be cool.
