It's a perfectly functional map. I'm not even going to comment on the general ridiculous feeling of entitlement and "I can make a better map" statements as it's just pointless.
fiesta slayer was very fun and the best on the map iv played so far, the map is quite good overall, forge was a disapointing but gameplay is very fun, i think it was a succes and giving it for free was a great idea because unless it had 2 other great maps, any asking price would hav been abit worthless
the diagram is incorrect. the reciever for 3 is behind the needler. they have it shown taking you to the next room. the needler is also on the wrong side. its in the correct room, but its on the shotgun side rather than the sniper side. additionally, infection came up in the Icy Treat playlist, and i have to say, i kinda liked it. the more i play the map, the better i like it. placements and all.
The gloomy filter makes this map bad ass. I like fiesta too. I have already been hit a brilliant one flag map that I would like testers for, but so far I really think this is a decent map.
I don't concur, on a map this small it could be hard for a sniper to get to a good spot without being seen, you don't understand weapon placement fully, having a rocket next to an OS can be devastating, but not on a large map. It isn't one size fits all. If you hate AR starts, change it.
err... normally when you concur you agree, but your statement proves otherwise... EDIT: damn you silence! picking on HPM is my job! lol
... How can you not like Cold Storage!? Best default layout of any DLC map to date IMhO. Sure, there's almost nothing in terms of forging resources, but someone will come up w/ something good on it eventually.
I never played the original Chill Out. I like Cold Storage...but only a little bit. The aesthetics are nice...soo nice...maybe too nice. lol. The aesthetics are undoubtedly amazing. You have to say the little touches they made to make you feel in a completely isolated environment were pretty neat. Gameplay on Cold Storage itself is alright. I mean, Crazy King was fun to play and FFA games are alright, but the spawns are too out into the open to make it a good FFA map. I also wanted to see it filled with covenant weapons, but that didn't happen. Forge-wise, I am kinda disappointed. Just because Bungie can change the teleporters to make them look awesome does not mean it automatically make the map better forge-wise. Point is that they didn't change a whole lot. Also, one quick question (may have already been asked and answered). Has anyone found an effective way to geomerge in Cold Storage? If so, which energy blocker is the best to use?
I was able to geomerge very crudely by using the large ones to merge, and then use those "bracket shaped things" and large energy blockers to hold it in place. But it still didn't really work, I'd get parts in, but not all of it. The other energy blocks are so oddly shaped.. shaped for a specific par of the map -_-
yes, +rep for you blaze. Best default layout of any DLC map, if I could slap you, I would. IMO the best default DLC map is Ghost Town, by far. The weapon placement is so screwed. In my variant I'm gonna really change the flow of gameplay. I dont understand how Bungie failed so epicly with the spawns.
Jeez, what will it take for people to stop complaining? Does Bungie have to pay you for the privilege of getting a download? My god, man, it's FREE.
I know this is from the department of redundancy department, but how can you ever complain about a free map? With that said, I love the map. Sure, it is going to need some forging to be better suited for competitive play, but it is one of the first maps in Halo 3 that I actually had a fun time playing on it no matter what the gametype (yes, even Fiesta Slayer, Infection, and Swords). The map actually promotes map movement, which is always a plus. I can understand why people wouldn't like the map especially if they didn't play Halo 1. The reason for this is it doesn't play the same as other Halo 1 maps and embodies the fast paced gameplay from Halo 1 and Halo 2. This works because every room can easily counter another room, which makes camping very difficult. I have a feeling this map will grow on people the more they play it and learn the map better. After a failed first attempt by Bungie, they nailed this remake. They realized Halo 3 runs differently than Halo 1/2 and adjusted accordingly instead of keeping the map proportions the same like Blackout, which results in jumps that used to be difficult becoming very easy with Halo 3 gameplay (ie. jump from top mid to snipe tower). The map was adjusted so that the jump from one side of needler to the other still required a crouch by making the gap larger. The main room is also bigger, but it works great. This style of map (asymmetrical) actually works for Halo 3 gameplay because the BR is actually consistent in the close quarters of the many rooms, which is probably why Guardian and Cold Storage are the best Halo 3 maps right now IMO. I have found my new warmup map for FFA and 2v2. I can't wait to run some 4v4 MLG slayer, ball, and KoTH on this map. Great work Bungie. I am one happy camper (ironic?) again for getting such a great map for free.
I think you ***** to much too Jaaay Kaaay Jaaay Kaaay I kid i kid. I thought it was preety fun, hectic and fast paced, but fun nontheless, I got me my first legit Killtacular on there too just now, so im happy. The map itself looks beautiful, only thing is that I kept getting lost like crazy and theres alot of Plasma rifles. Rockets seem to be kinda hard to reach too somewhat, you have to really time your jump and stuff. Im just glad i didnt have to pay for it is all.
one thing taht could be useful for forge in Cold Storage is the height of the map, you are able to hit the ceiling.
