So, mostley, I haven't seen any real deabate here, just people saying their opioion. I'm tired of it, so I want to form a weekley debate thread, here's how it works: At the begining of the week I will make a new thread called "Debate of the week #(insert week here). A poll will be included. For one week, Mon. till Fri, people will give points and counter points. Any non-valid/opioion/flames will be ignored. At the end of the week, a new poll/thread will be made, and everyone will vote, and the score will be talied to see who is right. So, i'm going to need some suggestions for a good topic, and some thumbs up or down as whether this is a good idea or not.
well right now one of the best topics could be on if you like cold storage or if you dislike it and bungie made a bad remake of their old map. I'm pretty sure that with all of these people playing this map you'll be able to get a lot of dicussion
I'm going to say this is a bad idea, because no one is ever really right, as much as they are opinionated. So voting is out of the question
i love this idea, speech and debate is the way this world runs and what better way to practice voiceing your opinion then on topics about halo. 2 thumbs up
You are right but thats the point to find out different people views and opinions on the matter which were discussing. And i agree with (forgot to look at name) cold storage would be ideal for this weeks topic of debate.
I do think that this idea has its good points, but the idea of scoring it based on a final poll seems kinda flawed. I think that all it will serve to do is alienate those who "lose", the majority aren't always correct, far from it. And its not really even about who is right and wrong, a debate is about offering opinions and discussing them, If you manage to convince someone through reasoned argument then thats good, but not necessary. If there's some kind of factual conclusion that is indisputable then its just an investigation really. Organising debates sounds like a good plan, but branding either side the winner is just gonna cause bitterness and grudges in further debates.
The only thing that I would say to do is have a hot topic debate for a week. No scoring, but just have a good debate about something, with either bringing up an old debate, or make a new debate. My only idea.
I don't really think the debate forum should be used for "debating" about maps. There's a maps forum for that.
I'd look into this every now and then. As long as it isn't politics, governing, government etc, I'm in!
