Many people of forgehub have asked or made a MLG map and its not up to MLG standards. I am going to go into short detail of what weapons and spawn times MLG use.

This is MLG template of weapons,
    Battle Rifle
    [IMG]
    Carbine
    [IMG]
    Rocket Launcher
    [IMG]
    Plasma Pistol
    [IMG]
    Mauler
    [IMG]
    Sniper Rifle
    [IMG]
    Plasma Grenades
    [IMG]
    Fragmentation Grenades
    [IMG]
    Active Camo
    [IMG]
    Custom Power-up
    [IMG]
if your not sure about the custom power up its a overshield but it has one extra layer of shields. you cant set this in forge but its automatically in the MLG gametypes and that is found here. MLG gametypes

But I will say, you can have other weapons such as, Magnum and plasma rifle but It won't get the same amount of attention. If you do choose those weapons you must make sure that they play properly on your map.

No vehicles or self held equipment(eg. bubble shield)

Battle Rifle has a 10 second respawn with 2 extra clips.
Carbine has a 90 second respawn with 2 extra clips.
Rocket Launcher has a 180 second respawn with 1 extra clip.
Plasma Pistol has a 90 second respawn
Mauler has a 120 second respawn with 1 extra clip
Sniper Rifle has a 150 second respawn with 2 extra clips.
Both Frag and Plasma Grenades have 30 second respawn.
Both power-ups have a 120 second respawn and are based on the pick-up clock

By all means you can change these settings, these settings are based on a template of MLG weapons. So if your map uses a sniper it doesn't have to have 2-extra clips it can have 1 or none. But you are being safe if you follow the guide lines above.

With the Sniper and Rocket you must have a drop spawn. This is where you spawn the weapon in the air.

    Weapon Control.
Sniper is always put in an area with limited access to highground *so its not overpowered*
Grenades try and Keep to a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8. Having too many can resort to grenade spamming and this will ruin your map.
Put your carbines on towers and Battle Rifles on the ground near spawns.

Don’t put too many power weapons on your map, because this will result in spamming and this will ruin the game play of your map. If you are making a map on Foundry the best thing to do is have just one mauler in the middle. But depending on your map and its layout you could have maybe a custom power-up or have 2 or 3 weapons.

For your map to be MLG you must use these rules otherwise its not MLG.

If you want more guides on MLG look here for the layouts and scenery

On my next MLG guide I will talk about the scenery.
What they use, the layout of maps and advanced items.

Cool, I was wondering when you were gonna get around to this.
What did you mean by the pick up clock?

Im not the biggest fan of MLG but its good to see a decent guide on how to:
Put an end to the "anyone know what weapons r in MLG???!" ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Keep it coming and we may see less maps with "MLG" in front of their name when they clearly arent ;)

Power-ups and all other weapons begin to respawn from the moment you pick them up. If you pick up an overshield at 7:55 and it’s on a three-minute respawn clock, the next one will be available at 4:55.

Rockets and Snipers respawn on a continual timer. No matter when you pick up the rockets or sniper rifles, they are always going to respawn at set intervals. This is different than Halo 2 or default Matchmaking settings, in which the weapon respawn timer resets itself once the weapon is dropped. This means that if the rocket is on a three-minute spawn timer, it will respawn at 12 minutes, nine minutes, etc.

this is just to make each game different

For the MLG scenery, it's no teleporters, no weapon holders, no grav lifts/man cannons, no shield doors, no fusion coils, no propane tanks, no roadblocks and theres some other items aswell, correct me if I'm wrong.

wrong, good try though. they DO use teleporters, weapon holders(not to hold weapons but to make movable objects immovable, grav lifts can be used but they must be used effectively. but they do NOT use shield doors, fusion coils, propane tanks etc. i will go into detail in the nest guide

I'm sure they dont prohibit the use of weapon holders and teleporters.
What about the use of barriers, when they're placed long ways, a weapon holder is placed to keep it stable.

I meant weapon holders to hold weapons, and teleporters to to teleport to places. Not to hold things down, but I know what you mean.

you do use teleporters to teleport places it has been used many times eg. On x SaLoT's map stockpile.

but anyway lets get back on topic about this weeks guide.

Just wondering, how come the sniper and rocket have to be drop spawned?

So that it makes a sound. Which apparently it does.
They're placed a few feet in the air so that they spawn and hit the ground which would notify the more alert of players.

Nice guide man, I had actually been wondering for quite some time on all these things. I don't really plan to make an MLG map as I'm not a big MLG guy, but it's nice to now know what I'm getting into when I see MLG maps, +rep.

For example when you pick up a weapon that is placed on the ground and it has a 2 minute respawn, that weapon will respawn in 2 minutes. but if the item was dropped from the air it will respawn in 2 minutes from when it was dropped.

you forgot one thing that i have repeated many times, no snipers on foundry due to it's size. unless you're like a super special awesome architect who make them work perfectly. but i doubt you are, so don't use them.

this is great. i hope it reduces the amount of so-called "MLG" maps that are made on this site. you should probably do another thread on geometry, LOS, and spawns that are typical of MLG maps. that would also be good.
