Let's discuss what everyone thinks should be in a good competitive or MLG type map. Tell us what you expect from a good map and what attributes and qualities you want in this type of map. For IE. what type of objects and what weapons you would use. Like I'm pretty sure genuine competitive/MLG maps wouldn't use vehicles or fuel rods or objects such as grav lifts or shield doors. Also the balance between different objects and power weapons.
I would say MLG maps are thinner than other maps (weapon-wise), to make the domination less from one point. You constantly have to move to get ammo, and there's no guy standing over at a shielddoor with a shotgun pointed at your face. I think MLG/Competitive are/should be more teamplay based than default maps. Skill is not counted on your aim according to me, it's on your team's score. As simple as that. it doesn't matter if a guy had 4 kills if he had a massive amount of assists or worked as a decoy, if the team won, he shares the glory. So i would say the line goes between power-weapon dominated-, and teamworkbased maps. I think that if you playtest a map it should be pretty clear in what cathegory it belongs in.
From my perpsective, a good MLG map is one that always has it so that players are at equals with eachother and teamwork and personal skill wil decide the score. Things like fuel rod, flame grenades, and other weapons that don't take much skill to use wouldn't make things equal. Personally i don't like equip in HC and competitve games. Rockets are there just to make teams focus on them and build strategies around rockets because of their power. so to make a conclusive statement, a good MLG map gives each player or team the same chance to win when they are first engage in battle no matter what and vehicles or shield doors can't make the odds uneven. Also MLG maps should be balanced and also should be able to be recognized. What i mean by this is locations to call enemies out. MLG is usually for players more like pros than your average halo gamer. All pros usually would call out the enemies to their team using a common name that everyone would know. Locations are usually determined by structures or near power weapons or equiment.
