Space Station

    I know this has been done before, but I wanted to make a unique and interesting version of One-Sided Assault. Here's the story:

    Defense: You and your astronaut buddies have been working on this space station for many years. However, it is under attack by vicious and unknown aliens. Protect the reactor of the station until the UNSC arrives with its powerful weapons to wipe out the aliens.

    Offense: From the planet of Trevgar, your hoard of aliens has migrated to a different solar system. There you find a large machine-like object with unusual creatures on board. As is customary, you can't communicate so you think each other are dangerous, and get into a war. Grab your fusion bomb and float over to the station to destroy it once and for all.

    Now on to gameplay.

    The map consists of (obviously) a large space station, and space rubbish (asteroids). The aliens must skillfully use the asteroids to their advantage to lead the attack on the station. However, there is very little cover behind these asteroids, so the aliens must use their ship's laser to their advantage. The astronauts have a lot of cover, but not the most powerful weapons.They must be sneaky about defending. It is also hard to come by equipment here, as there aren't many supplies left.

    In Spaccesault, the aliens have to be very careful not to drop the bomb or it will float away through space. You have about 3 seconds to catch it, before it is lost forever, and you have to use a spare. The radiaton from the alien's bomb gives it's holder a strange golden color. As is technical for being in outer space, you can float higher.

    -The ships captain hid a powerful shotgun somewhere in the ship in case of attack. The only trouble is, where is it?

    I know this will probably be asked, so I'll answer now. It took about 6 hours to do the map. It's my first that I've posted on Forgehub, so please help me out with some techniques. I'm not the best at interlocking, and I certainly need help on making a map more symmetrical. I tried making this map without the unlimited money glitch. I really don't know if this qualifies as Casual or Competitive, so if you think its competitive just tell me. Thanks for the support!

    looks pretty cool, but is there something to counter the ghost?

    yea the ghost need countering, the mauler isnt a shotgun its a mauler, and seriously that dosent look like a ship ive ever seen but the map was well made 3.5/5

    It's fine. Needs a little more interlocking, and balance the weapons better. And yes, it doesn't look like a spaceship. 3/5

    Yeah, you probably didn't look well enough. There is a shotgun there. Look under the pallets. Make sure you DL'ed before you review, please. and there is something to counter the ghosts. #1, The ghosts are not as useful as you think, because of the shield doors. #2, you can easily hijack a ghost that's getting too close. It's not really supposed to look just like a space station, but it has a docking hangar and some cool features. Please read more carefully. It is NOT a spaceship. When I said space ship hangar, I meant the place where the ships would dock in the Station. It is actually pretty balanced because if the bomb is dropped it resets really quickly. This helps ensure that even if the ghosts are stronger, if you go for the bomb carrier you have nothing to worry about. Thanks for the tips! I'll work on a version 2 today.

    Like you said this has been done alot. But I appreciate that you tried to shake things up a bit. Could use a bit more interlocking (geez, now im saying it...) Needs some more pictures of the inside. If you are still interested in reworking the map but don't feel like doing a complete overhaul, just add some aesthetic touches here and there. Merge random cool looking stuff that doesn't affect gamplay. I'd suggest these towers ive seen on Battery with two double boxes and some shild door in between.

    Thanks a ton for the tips, RivalMass. I haven't set this up for 1 Flag yet, but I'm working on it. I'll try and add some cool aesthetic stuff. I have some in the docking hangar, and the hallway with pallets, but I'll see what I can do. However, I'm out of a budget. Is there any way to use the glitch now? This is just my first real map, so I'll have to be more careful with my next one.

    -I just remembered, the fuel rod gun and rocket and laser are on this map. they are sort of in the middle, I'll move the laser to the defenders side. Sound good?

    --Does anybody know exactly how many objects can be placed on a map, even if the unlimited budget glitch is used? I've come across that problem before.

    i dont think you can really get unlimited budget now. sorry. well if you really want to improve your map load up one of the glitched budget maps. I heard about one with all the items outside of the map which would really help you since you coud use that space. I can't tell if you still really want to improve your map but if you do you would have to start over. You said that it took you 6 hours but with an idea in mind it will take less time. Try to use on of those switches people have been inventing as it will help set your map apart. An elevator in the fort could be good and maybe a drawbridge (takes a medium amount of money) going to the base.

    Good luck. I haven't posted a map yet and am away from home so I can't actually play your map but I would be happy to help.

    I'm not sure if I'll remake the map, saying as this is only my first map and mainly just a test. I'll use some of the stuff you said in my next creation. Thanks!

    -I've noticed that nobody has actually downloaded my map. PLEASE don't criticize it until you've fully checked it out. I know that RivalMass can't, obviously. Everyone else read carefully and download before you make careless remarks. Thanks.

    yeah no problem. i am going to start posting maps for the first time too and i guess you get a lot of criticism at first. Just a few minutes ago i came up with a crazy idea that i posted somewhere ese. If you have an open space that you want to stay open but would like to make it interesting you could geomerge a bunch of doubleboxes (upside down) into the ground with about a foot sticking out (use a fece wall). Then interlock some of these. I don't know if its practical or not and I haven't tried it yet but it should keep the ground relatively flat but with some neat looking cracks that will keep people from complaining about the "lack of innovation" or something like that. I am away from home for the next two months and if you decide to use this could you post it as an open map called "cracked earth" or any other name so I can see what it looks like?

    actually i havent geomerged yet but would like to. if you want to keep the box straight you should probably put walls all around it so it cant move and then a flat box ontop. its too bad no one has dowloaded your map yet. when i get back home i will post an infection map called holdout [zm] so check it out if you can i will need lots of feedback to make it a great map, though its solid already. i have made several plans for it on a powerpoint and i have a good idea of what it will look like

    Yeah well then have the boxes parallel then. this idea could be made even cooler looking if you added shield doors in between the cracks to make it look filled up with stuff. I like the names you came up with by the way. i will keep checking up on this thread and we can give eachother feedback on our ideas. This thing if we do it right could make the map very popular if its done well. Though it will take lotss of time so when i get back i will get to work on it and maybe use a bit of whatever you will have done by then if thats ok. I could try to show you my map but im not sure how i would do that...

    this is an okay map but it looks weird cause why is it space station is it because the sheild walls are where it lands or something but i also agree that it needs something to beat the ghost

    Thanks for the comment, but as I mentioned before the ghosts are easily counterable, and it doesn't matter what it looks like, I did my best with the budget I had.
