Blank spots alway occer for me there. They just aren't very suitably places for anything. Add a sniper tower though.
It looks like a very awesome map from what I am seeing in the screen shots. For the empty areas maybe you could add some single boxes sunken into the ground like this ^ making cover and higher ground. I don't know too much about MLG maps and what is the same about them, but personally that is what I would do, or the ramp that mitona suggested.
Here this is probally gunna be heard to explain but let me try anyway. You should have a connecting plaform thats running acrros the walls to the barrier middle place.Then under that platform should have like an arc shaped cover place like warlock (Halo 2 multiplayer map) with that middle thing under all the platforms. I'm sorry i can't help you on live because i'm at my Dad's and theres no sexbox here.
This look like a well built map. My advice to someone who starts a map alone is to finish it alone, or with someone they know. Since the map is yours, your ideas should be incorporated into it. As for a "forger's block" I found that term quite funny. However, again supporting my point above, when a writer gets a block, do they post something asking for help on the internet, or do they come up with an idea? The map will be yours, no matter when you release it. Don't feel panicked and rushed, because you definitely aren't. When you fell ready, finish it and release it.
