Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) I use paint for most of my pictures, I save them in PNG and they turn out fine. Though I do have Irfanview anyway, World of Warcraft screenshots used to be saved in a non-supported type.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) And thus it be stickied!!! Has anyone else noticed that I practically own the whole Forge Discussion section...
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) I have a mac. Is that an excuse? ... Just kidding, what scaling options should I do in GIMP?
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) ask gskellig about that, GIMP doesn't work for me =p
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) I noticed the board resizes your high-res pictures automatically. And another nice host is imageshack.us, if it hasn't already been mentioned. I've used it for years without a hitch. The only problem so far is it can't upload small 700kb .png's that are over 160000x160000px in size (for the love of God, don't ask.) My personal suggestion (hey I'm new to these forums) is just save the original b.net pictures, upload them without any fiddling around with extra programs, and wrap them with
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) I've noticed that my screenshots always look much darker on my computer monitor than in the game. I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but it could be my own display settings. I usually try to take screenshots with the camera right next to an explosion, because it can make everything brighter. If everyone would humor me, which screenshot below looks better? No Extra Lighting Extra Lighting They were taken from a map I'm about to post. Also, great guide Fbu. It has helped me a great deal.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) Actually, the one with extra lighting looks overexposed, and the regular looks just fine. Maybe it's your monitor.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) Yeah... if you're used to an uncalibrated monitor then it'll look weird even if it's normal - and that first one looks fine to me.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) Well, that's certainly frustrating for me. My brightness and contrast are all the way up and it's still dark. It isn't important for me to see my own pictures, but almost every picture from everybody else's Foundry maps looks dark to me. Some I can't even make out at all. Of course, my monitor is about 8 years old. That could be the problem.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) Yeah it is probably just your monitor, it comes out fine for me.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) If i'm gonna publish a map, and want to take a lot of pictures, is it a big deal to make them hi-def? I couldn't see any difference at all in the pictures of different quality that were posted.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) Paint.net... Not sure i itll help any, but Photoshop, GIMP, paint.net, all photo editors... Paint.net you CAN download (google it) or you could type in paint.net in a different a tab and wallah!
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) In my eyes it's an valor of effort, did the author make a great post with great pictures or slap something quickly to get super downloads fast zomg! I for one would rather have the first one. Of course it's pure opinion and it's not required to post in Hi-Def.
Re: HOW TO: Hi-Def pics (noob-proof intructions) Ironically, the url for paint.net is www.getpaint.net. EDIT: Woops, they got a redirect page on the other domain. I hadn't gone to the site since then.
