Basically i am making a new map and ive got some interlocking already on it as well as several items merged into the ground. Now when i tried to merge a double box into the ground i placed it onto 3 walls as i wanted it to be 3 walls out of the ground. so i did that deleted the wall etc and started new round. on the new round I went to the spot, placed another double box on the ground and made the other one appear. it went into the ground fine, except it goes straight through every time. and just disappears through the floor no matter how many times i try or how long i hold it before letting go. why wont it stay 3 walls above the ground?

Save and Quit without letting go.

I have to agree with shellshock. That said, the method you're using is older. Try using the doors. It makes for a much cleaner and controllable merge. Remember, the more doors you use, the easier it is for control. I typically like to use five for double boxes. One in the middle, and two at each end. Make sure you save before you try it though, because you tend to get different results. So don't be afraid to try and merge a box 3 or 4 times over just to get it right. When it comes down to it, the cleaner it looks, the better it will be recieved.

Exactly, just keep trying those methods untill you get it just right.

i dont understand why doors would be easier, when placing them down to make the box float in the first place they are smaller so wouldnt it be harder with doors rather than walls which i use

The door method is different. You don't need to start a new round or anything for it.
If you place a door on it's side, it interlocks a little into the box. When you grab the box, then quickly let go, it will sink into the ground so that the door isn't in it anymore.

Then you move the doors down onto it again and repeat as necessary. That clear it up?
