Hey,my XBL is down because my WA is down. I don't why, can anyone help? When I do the test thing it says that it isn't even connected, while it is. And I've tried plugging it in all three USB ports. Do the Adapters go bad? I've had mine for three years now, fyi.
Whenever I'm having troubles connecting to XBL (I use the wireless adapter), I just disconnect my router from power, wait about 30 seconds and then reconnect everything. It works for my router, I'm not sure what type you have though. I'm not sure if the WA could have given out, mine is fine but I've only had it for about a half a year. EDIT: Another thought, there is a little light that lights up when it is connected to power, if that is lit up, then I don't see anything that could be wrong with it. Also, make sure that there is minimal distance between your Xbox and the router it is connected to. If it is too far away, many problems may occur and may not connect properly.
Ive had my Wireless Adapter for about a year or so and usually if it is turning red that just means it isnt connecting with your router. I would check the IP address and WEP key on your xbox Internet Settings and make sure that you are on the same Network as your router. I was setting up Wireless XBL for my friend's xbox a few days ago so I know almost exactly what to do
Ya, my adapter is lighting up, my Xbox just won't pick it up. I do the test and the first test says disconnected.
Is it connected properly to your router? You might want to check if your Xbox is set to the right IP address and the WEP or WPA key has to be correct as monkeydeath said. You can check that your router has the extra device added or else it won't recognize it. If automatically detecting the settings doesn't work, try manually adding in the settings, IP address, WEP key, MTU settings, etc... on your Xbox (you can find all the correct settings for your Xbox by opening up your router settings). I'm justing giving a bunch of suggestions, I'm not sure what your exact problam is, but I hope some of these will help.
I usually disconnect my router for a little while (usually an hour). So i that doesn't work then I can't help.
Well, my cousin came over and tried his Wireless Adapter and my Xbox didn't recognize that either. So would a router problem be connected with my Xbox not recognizing my adapter? TO CLEAR THE ISSUE! My problem is that my Xbox won't read my Wireless Adapter
When you say read, do you mean it will not detect, or it is detected, but does not complete any tests successfully?
Has your xbox come across any static charges as of late? A bolt of would be harmless static elctricity can fry a USB peripheral. It sounds to me like you WA is bad, either just because Microsoft is too cheap to make something that lasts a good while, or it got static fried.
To answer Alpha... It won't detect it, I do the test and the "Newtwork Adapter" (The test that finds an ethernet cable or wireless adpater) says "Disconnected"
I think that Ty, is right, the USB port could be fried, since you already tried using another one. I'm gonna go run the test on my Xbox, so I can see which part of the test you're failing.
I called Xbox support and they said my USB ports are fried, so no Xbox for a while... Thanks to everyone who helped, thats +rep because I feel like it
how much was your wireless adapater slighty of topic i know but mine was £60 which is about $120 us scandalous
My xbox one was only like $50 from buy.com at one point. You can get a Belkin Wireless G gaming adapter for about $60 at wal-mart and it works just as well.
I can't offer too much assistance, as what I would tell you has already been mentioned, but I lag A LOT. I found out that it was interference with my wireless connection from something as simple as people walking around downstairs (My room = upstairs, router = downstairs). Try to have as little interference as possible before trying to connect.
Metal if you had read the thread, you would have found out that he knows now what his problem is. I suppose this thread can be locked now since the problem has been found?
