Idea to make Forge 10-100 times more flexible/create even more interesting maps

    I am working on something that might be quite convincing to Bungie...

    Just wait a few weeks and we will see what will happen...

    I've also had a few ideas running around. Brute Player Models being one of them, though THAT won't happen. God, the melee D:

    I really wanted to see an option when halo 3 came out to have a specific team be either spartan or elite, depending... like, it would make battles FORCE players to become their customized version of either set, so it becomes a bit more like human vs elites type stuff... I'm sure some players would have a hay-day with that one.

    They would be so easy to stick... even though they weren't that easy to stick in the campaign, those were smart. I don't think anyone would be able to dive left or right as a brute

    Yeah, I figured the brutes would have their drawbacks, but don't the elites have more surface to nab when sticking? also, the head is so easy to snipe because it's so big and sticks out :S

    i do alot of programing and scripting and unless you do to you know most of these changes would be dearly impossible

    making a single script change for 1 minor thing can end up crashing or causing hundreds of bugs which will then need to be fixed with more changes that can eventually ruin the whole game.

    trust me this may seem like it wouldnt be that hard to make sum of these changes but IT IS so try not to expect too much

    I don't think creating a scripting engine would be too hard for Halo. All they would really need to do is write a system to process the scripts we make and then inside the appropriate functions (in the engine) tell the scripting engine to execute the block of code in a script based on the appropriate event then when it comes across an engine function call in the script call the appropriate function.

    Look at Mattie Eventscripts for Counter Strike Source, it was done there. It would be even easier for Bungie because they have direct access to the source code.

    If not all of them, most of my ideas would be fairly simple to implement depending on how far the Halo engine is advanced, if you want I could explain how most of them would be able to be done.

    But yes you are right, there could be many bugs, but it should be up to the player to make sure that they write good bug free scripts.

    you cant really compare counter strike to halo the script on that was very simple and halo 3's script is not. if you ad the script block you still have to deal with the interactions with everything else in the game though it is possible without having to change the main scripting it would be rather hard and time consuming to make sure everything interacted correctly with the allready existing scripts. it is true that a few of the things you said may be rather simple to implement.

    Good ideas. If your going to do something like that and send it to Bungie, make sure to ask them for team specific traits, too. (ex. blue team spawns swords, red team spawns rockets)

    So basically, you want mods.
    That's cool. Mods were fun in Halo 2, offline of course. For an example, there was Halo 3volved, one of the best modpacks in the forums IMO.
    But of course, I like this script idea. I just think it's hard to implement.

    THAT was something I REALLY wanted for infection, was to AT LEAST turn into flood, not just change color. Sure elites could have changed to infected elites, but I wonder... what would spartans turn to? not the tiny human forms... maybe a brute form?

    i actually like the challenges of the way forging is now. the thing is, if forging was super easy i wouldn't be proud of anything i make and everybody will be super good at it.

    Tons of great ideas although I think that the script system is pushing it a little.

    I am sorry dude but most of the stuff you said I think is pointless and lame. I don't agree with any of those sugestions. I am sorry but that post makes me think you are a noob. Not saying you are but sure looks like it to me.
