Yes, I meant the placed grav lift, not the deployable grav lift. When I tested this map, I took the deployable grav lift up to the second level and then deployed it.

And yeah, I knew about getting up 2 levels by jumping into the lift. Pretty handy.

Cool, I was just making sure we were talking about the same thing.

And dudes, could somebody please just say something in my bungie.net forum thread? If you don't mind, just say anything so it goes back to the front page. Its impossible to compete with the constant overflow of crappy pointless maps, my thread gets pushed so far down into the abyss, and I'm not the type to bump my own threads.

I'll do it really quick, but only because I like the map.

Re: Meridian - Updated Version 1.1

Thanks for the help Furious D. I'm glad you like the map, and now I know you're not the only one. Yeah, someone on the MLGPro site stole it, slightly changed a few things, and is claming it as his own. I typed this up in the Community Watch forum, but I'm going to copy and paste that here, so it can be known: If you have a good map, watch your back, because someone will stab it.

"Boy, have I got one for you guys. I followed somebody's link to the MLGPro.com website, randomly, and when I got there, somebody's map caught my eye. So I read his post, it looked good, I clicked his download link and it went to his fileshare. While I'm in his fileshare, I notice he has several maps.....but then.....wtf?.... One of his maps called "Reaction" has the SAME EXACT DESCRIPTION THAT I TYPED FOR MY MAP, verbatim. What are the chances!? This is totally random, I had never been there before, I chose this guy's fileshare to look at for no apparent reason, and I see my description on his map. So I download it, and low and behold, it's MY map, but he changed some things around, IMO he took out everything that makes it "fun" i guess to make it more "MLG Compatible". He's claiming the map as his own original idea, and people are worshiping him for how awesome it is. His name on the MLGPro site is SaLoT and his gamertag is SoLaT Fkn Sux.

So I call him out on it in his thread for the first map I was looking at, then on his thread for Reaction, then I posted my map Meridian with a disclaimer at the top stating how this guy stole my map, here is the original. He comes up with nothing but B.S. excuses, people are kissing his ass, saying its original, anybody could make a similar map, yadda yadda. Well only his sheepish followers I guess, now people are coming around and seeing that he's a lying piece of crap. So here's all the evidence I have accumulated.

My original map called "Meridian" that took me a week to make:
    -On Bungie's site http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=16503192
    -On this site http://www.forgehub.com/home/index.php?topic=1448.0
    -On the MLGPro site http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147732

Now here's his map called "Reaction"
    -On the MLGPro site http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147069
He also backtracked and changed it, put a different map up with the same name to try and weasel out of the accusations, but I had already downloaded his plagiarized map, so I put it in my Fileshare which also contains 4 screenshots of my map dated 12/24/07. His name is still on it, and so is my description. There is absolutely no denying that he stole my map, yet he still lies. http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=MasterWizard%20ED

So, how do I report this guy to Bungie?"

After trying this map out with some friends I must say it is very fun to play on. Balanced sides, level variation, weapons variation, and look make this map intense and extremely exciting to play on. Very well done.

Thank you for the review, Cr0ok3d. I'm glad that you found the fun that I was going for when I made the map.

I've been arguing with the folks on the MLGpro website for the past day and a half, and the guy who stole my map turns out to be a (formerly) highly respected map maker, who has submitted tons of maps. I accused him of stealing my map in every thread of his that I could find, the funny thing is that there's some map making contest going on. He didn't submit his plagiarized version of my map to the contest, but I have trashed his reputation because he is a thief and a liar. At first, everybody ignored me and sided with him because he is a long time member of their site, and I just showed up out of the blue. But logic prevails and I opened their eyes to the truth. Hopefully I have undermined and ruined his chances of winning any contests. He still denies stealing my map, even in the face of the overwhelming evidence against him.

Oh, a point that I was going to make, is that the MLG crowd calls my map lame because I have such noob things as turrets and a hammer in mine. In his version, he removed everything but the BR's, Snipers, 1 mauler, and 1 Rocket Launcher. He removed the double man-cannon staircase and just stacked boxes there, cutting off the access to the upper levels from there. He removed the man cannons from the corners and put dumpsters there to jump on. Its so watered down, but they all call my map lame and garbage, and his is somehow so much better. They do not play this game for fun, they think its some sort of serious sporting event or something. It is refreshing for me to come back here and see that people enjoy playing on my map.

I urge every map maker to go look at this guy's maps and make sure that none of them are yours, he has a ton of them. Here is a link to every thread he's submitted: http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/search.php?do=process&showposts=0&starteronly=1&exactname=1&searchuser=SaLoT Take note especially of "Refinery" and "Epilation" as those are his 2 main contest entries.

And if you feel like you would be entertained by reading our arguments about this, most of it is in his latest thread for "Refinery": http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147803

Thank you for your support, ForgeHub.

Wow, nice map. Looks like a complicated layout. I'll have to check this one out too. I really like the bubbleshield vs. laser pic, and the one below it of the sniper hallway. Also very unique with this map is forcing the player who gets the overshield to either one side of the map or the other. Very interesting, never saw a feature like that on any other map. Might be good or bad.. I dunno. Downloading now.

Thanks SykoOne, glad you and your friends love it. I wanted to make it fun, with tons of variety, basically every weapon available in matchmaking, located at places in the map that would be useful.

NeverlessWonder, I think the overshield hovering over the double man-cannon is a pretty fun aspect. After tweaking out the weapons and thinking about it some more, I'm almost second guessing myself on just how much of an upper hand one person can get, if they are able to get the Rockets, Power Drain, and Overshield all at once, while simultaneously storming the top floors. Maybe its a bad idea, maybe its not, if there's a whole map full of players then its unlikely for one person to collect all those things. But I don't know, I'm almost considering to swap the Overshield with the Active Camo, but what makes me not want to do that is how nice that side of the map looks with the blue air jets, red Overshield, and green teleporter all artistically placed like that. Or maybe getting rid of the Power Drain altogether would be a good idea, but I put it there because its fun to throw it up the man cannons and hope it gets on top of the catwalks. Could be dangerous, I don't know. Let me know how it works out for you.

This looks like a nice map. I like the fact that it appears that the weapon and equipment array seem spread in useful areas. This map looks especially fun for Team Slayer or Territories. Good work.

I probably spent the most time thinking out the weapons, and shuffling them around a bit until I found the right balance. I knew that sniper rifles should be up behind the windows, but everything else took some messing around. I wanted the most powerful weapons in the most vulnerable areas, but those floating platforms are too vulnerable since you can shoot through them from the bottom, hence the Bubble Shield for protection. My decision to keep the Carbines and BR's up top was based on Warlock from Halo 2, how you needed to get up to the top and work for the long range weapons, but there's an emergency BR and Carbine at each starting base so you're not helpless if you spawn there. I still don't know how easy it would be to survive on the ground if people are shooting at you with long range weapons from up top, but I tried to make the ways up there as fast as possible so you can bum rush people with dual wields. I also wanted to try and force people to use the Magnums, because I think they are underrated, and paired with a Plasma Rifle, they are quite deadly.

I would like to hear some opinions on how well the weapon balance is working out in real games, since I've still been unable to play any real games on my map. Is the Power Drain, Overshield, and Rockets being so close to each other giving too much of an advantage? And the Shotgun is right under all that, so that could also be a problem. I've thought about this until my head hurts, I still can't decide if this is the best way.
