Somewhere Back in Time Tour - Iron Maiden - Allstate Arena, Chicago, June 11, 2008 Some of you already know that I went to the Maiden concert earlier this week with a few of my friends. Well here is a pile of photos my friend took with the exception of the first photo. That's just to show how many people there were and how close to the stage we were. The show was so incredibly epic and the crowd was wild. Bruce sounds better than ever and was extremely energetic. My ears were ringing for a few days and my neck still hurts from head banging, but it is totally worth it. Enjoy! Setlist Intro. Churchill's Speech "Aces High" (From Powerslave, 1984) "2 Minutes to Midnight" (From Powerslave, 1984) "Revelations" (From Piece of Mind, 1983) "The Trooper" (From Piece of Mind, 1983) "Wasted Years" (From Somewhere in Time, 1986) "The Number of The Beast" (From The Number of the Beast, 1982) "Can I Play with Madness" (From Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, 1988) "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" (From Powerslave, 1984) "Powerslave" (From Powerslave, 1984) "Heaven Can Wait" (From Somewhere in Time, 1986) "Run to the Hills" (From The Number of the Beast, 1982) "Fear of The Dark" (From Fear of The Dark, 1992) "Iron Maiden" (From Iron Maiden, 1980) "Moonchild" (From Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, 1988) "The Clairvoyant" (From Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, 1988) "Hallowed Be Thy Name" (From The Number of the Beast, 1982) We were about 10ft. from the stage Steve Harris (left) and Janik Gers (right) during Aces High Bruce Dickinson, best vocalist to walk the earth Harris again Bruce getting into it. The crowd was going crazy the whole show, and he ate it up. Adrian Smith, Steve Harris, Dave Murray, and Janick Gers Trooper!!! Bruce we think you are a God! Harris is so BA for a bassist Bruce really loved the Chicago crowd. I swear that 90% of the people were singing along with him, including my friends and I Yea Bruce! Rime on the Ancient Mariner! Powerslave! Bruce working up a sweat. He ended up throwing his hat to the crowd! Random people on the stage during Heaven Can Wait. Bruce got really confused. Every great stage show requires great props... Just wait until the next image That's right Mummy Eddie popped out of the mask! Show boating, Harris was tossing his bass in the air and catching it. Cyborg Eddie! The thing was like 8 feet tall and walked around the stage. The end of the show. The crowd was going crazy at this point I hope you enjoyed the gallery. Below are some videos from the concert. I didn't record any of them, and we were much closer than the perspective in them. Of course they are still sweet despite the shitty cell phone quality. http://youtube.com/watch?v=rgruOgIM-q4http://youtube.com/watch?v=00M0VjyYykUhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=1kZ7kfMWukQhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=Fu96Nk7jAoYhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=n_3ClO4wIq0http://youtube.com/watch?v=pZBQrCzLtzshttp://youtube.com/watch?v=WAwJ0KtuKQYhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=_3UVYVXoEwM
They are all around 50, but they still sounded amazing. It was a better stage show and more hard core than many metal bands today.
Dude I saw them in Irvine! There was a bonfire, and we were on the lawn, which is slanted, we were moshing. The pit was insane, because we were on a steep hill, and the grass was slippery, it was intense. BEST SHOW I'VE BEEN TO!
God your lucky, I can only afford to go to like, one concert a year, I chose to go see Rush at the Hollywood bowl. If I had known Iron Maiden was coming around were I live I would have to gone to it. P.S. I don't live in L.A. year round...
I was so pissed I missed this. I was on vacation during this, and will now have to wait till next year to see them. ****.
Why must I hear everyone on every forum I visit tell me of their recent attendance of a concert for Iron Maiden's latest tour while I sit about, listening to their music and wishing I was there? Crush my heart with all your details and picitures of all that awesomeness, taunting me about not actually going myself. You suck.
If they would have played Flight of Icarus I would have gone out of state to see this show. Iron Maiden is by far one of the best bands ever.
God, the last time I saw Maiden was probably back in 1991 when Anthrax opened for them. It was a totally bad ass show and I'm glad to hear that they can still bring it.
Copied from another forum I post on God damn Maiden was ****ing killer last night. Bruce is the best live vocalist I've ever seen. Set-list was the same one everyone else had which was pretty killer all though everyone went to the bathroom during Can I play with Madness. Setlist: Aces High 2 Minutes To Midnight Revelations The Trooper Wasted Years The Number Of The Beast Can I Play With Madness Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Powerslave Heaven Can Wait Run To The Hills Fear Of The Dark Iron Maiden Moonchild The Clairvoyant Hallowed Be Thy Name Ohh yeah and Lauren Harris (Steve Harris's daughter opened) She was a pretty bad singer in an even worse band, but: That was certainly worthwhile watching, could've done without the sound part. Now unfortunately the venue I went to completely sucks for metal concert. It was a pavilion on a hill with the people who bought seats in front with the lawn seats behind them. I was like two football fields away from the stage. That and for the first half of the set although the band was incredible the sound was so low that I could talk to my friend in a slightly elevated voice which is retarded, I should have to scream in the person's ear for them to hear me. Also most the fans were lame, there was no mosh pit until Hallowed be thy name which lasted about 20 seconds ending with two fat guys getting in a wrestling match which ended when one tackled the other and landed on top of some chick two feet in front of me, ROFL. All the crazy stuff that happened on stage was awesome, the giant eddy walking around with space pistol, the mummy eddie that came out of the coffin, and of course Bruce's ridiculous costumes were all awesome. Overall though it as pretty killer once they got the sound working better, great show
I told you she was bad yet hot, didn't I? No one went to the bathroom during the Chicago show since it was so epic.
Yeah but she was like really hot You also called the tight leather pants. And that was easily the most epic show I've ever seen. @tit: Not really a cradle fan but I'll check it out.
Damn! I hate being stuck in Utah! First Metallica now Maiden! None of these guys care about us proud (yet few) Metalheads stuck in Mormonville! Yet when they do come, they come within weeks of each other! (I'm talking to you MCR, The Used, Flyleaf, Avenged Sevenfold, and Paramore all April and May concerts!) Well, at least you had fun and was able to say hi to Eddy. Lets just hope AC/DC will plan to come yonder with their tour at the end of the year.
