Hi my name is Flow23 and I am completely new to Forgehub. A little background before I tell about my competitive 1v1 map. First, I am very into Halo and Forge. Sometimes I can spend my whole day creating interesting ideas and experimenting in Foundry. I enjoy playing Lone Wolves, Team Slayer, Team Swat, and MLG. Also, I LOVE running customs with smart players. I play anything, Infection, FFA, Objective. If anyone needs me to help them playtest a map creation or just play with them in general, I accept every friend request that is sent to me. **Gemini is only the first version and will be changed based on the advice you guys give me** Ok, now my map. The map I made is called Gemini. It is a very small inclosed, symmetrical 1v1 map. There are not many weapons, I take this from MLG where there is mostly BRs and 1-2 Power Weapons. On Gemini there are BRs, ARs, Plasma Rifle, SMGs, Spiker, shotgun, and a Sniper Rifle. The map is set up with two similar ends. The center of the map contains a structure with 2 SMGs on top. A player can also crouch jump ontop of the doors on the bottom of the central structure to avoid fire and be sneaky There are many opportunities for trick jumps and getaways. The map is small enough so there is no camping but also has a good geometry there is easy movement. Shotgun is held behind the wall of the "red base." Sniper is put on the back wall of the "blue base." Bases are determined by the Overshield (red base) and Camo (blue base) put into the wall above each base. Just one more picture that outlines Gemini. The base in the far left corner of the shot is red base. So thanks for everyone in advance in the Forgehub Community. I very excited to start creating more competitive maps if reception for Gemini is o.k. To download Gemini: Bungie.net : Community : Forum Topic Listing : Forum Reply Listing Thanks again. Advice is appreciated and every comment will be considered! -Flow23
Thanks everyone! Yea, Gemini is only its first stage and is very young.. Many changes will be made. Right now Gemini is only set up for the Slayer gametype and plays best with a FFA of 2-4 players.
A tip Just a tip- Don't give names that are other maps from h1 and 2, or people will think it's a remake and won't open it. Looks good, though.
Thanks for the tip! I never played Halo CE so I named it completely randomely! That's such a coincidence that it was already a name of a Halo map.
Flip over the bridges and interlock them togather so its easier to walk on. Also, this doesnt look like a sniper rifle map. I would instead replace it with some thing else, maybe a Flare to counter the shotgun. The layout of it is ok, wouldve added something a bit more eye appealing. Overall its a pretty good 1st post here on Forgehub, trust me, most new members dont have such a good post/map like yours. Also, adding a weapons/equipment list would make your post look more organized, its not required but is always a plus.
From first glance map looks awesome. But if you look closer it needs alot of tweaking. Interlocking is needed alot, it's too square and too small for it's open-ness. 3/5 Points lost: interlocking smallness and squareness
Thanks everyone for your advice! I see I really need to work on interlocking. As one person noted Gemini is already a Halo 2 map. I am going to rework my Gemini and change its name and post a new thread. I will continue to watch this thread for advice on furthering accomplishing my goals as a competitive 1v1 map.
