I just finished the first version of this map, hope you like it. It has some superficial resemblance to Hang 'em High and is kind of the dreaded "boxes and ramps" type of Foundry map, but I hope people will look past that to see how fun it can be. The basic concept I had for it was just two bases as far apart as Foundry will allow, with a wide ramp you can drive a mongoose around on and a lower area dense with structures (a la The Pit) for close to medium range fighting; the rest sprung up from that beginning. Pics: Map overview Overview from the reverse angle Defensive base Training area where you can find the spartan laser or get chased by a ghost The map consists of two bases, one occupying one of the original Foundry bases, and the other set up in the opposite corner. Elevated, wide ramps wrap around the walls, and also come to a peak in the center of the map where a 6-shot rocket launcher is perched invitingly. Below the ramps are a tangle of structures for closer combat, and also taking cover from people on high. An S-shaped middle area contains a stealth pickup, very useful in moving between the two bases. Each base has a close range weapon (shotgun or sword) and a long range one (beam rifle or sniper). Various regular weapons are scattered all over the map, and a spartan laser is available too. In addition there's a single mounted turret in a position that is dangerous to get to, but easy to control part of the map from if you make it there alive. Vehicles are also featured here - each base has a mongoose for quick transport around the outside ramps, and there's a ghost at floor level that can be a real source of fear for people crossing on foot. This map is set up for all gametypes. DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=16515556
Lol I like the training ground thing. But why is there a gap between the stairs and the box in overview 1?
For funsies. The actual answer is, I thought it would be entertaining to just have that part of the ramp be "broken" so as to make players jump across it - if they're not paying attention they'll end up on the ground, and it's hard to get back up from there (there are about half a dozen specific places to get up on the outer ramps unless you're willing to grenade jump, or have the deployable grav lift on you). I considered doing the same thing in another place but it wasn't working out logistically. Also, that is the key platform for all neutral objective spawns (bomb, flag, and oddball) so I thought it seemed about right to add a minor degree of difficulty. To clarify though, the true gap is between the stairs and the fence wall in the lower right corner - it's not supposed to connect to the box to the right. All four central stairs are linked directly to the outer ramps, except for that one.
