First I have some confessions to make... I don't have xbox live... I don't have halo 3... ??? I don't even own a 360!!! Before you go saying 'You dont belong here. LEAVE!!!' I'm gonna get an 360 and halo 3 sooner or later. What I need help on is if to buy it, sooner or later? I have enough money to buy a 360 and halo 3 all by myself including tax. My dad tells me to wait and get a bunch of money to have left over. Then he says he wants to help buy it, but he does a 180 and says he wont pay a dime. He's already made me promise to wait a month before buying it. So the question is do I buy it as soon as the months over or wait a little longer to save up some more cash? p.s I got $480 just to let you know
depends what u want to buy with it. the perfect time would have been until the 25th, when Halo came free with 360's, but its over by now. i recommend that whenever u do get it, get the one with a harddrive and wireless, not the Core (i think its called Pro)..if theres no difference, why not get it now
Definitely get it now, but make sure you have some way of getting it hooked up to the internet or else it wouldn't be as good
Yeah, just make sure you're going to have enough saved to get a good setup. All wireless, including controllers, headsets, and a networking adapter. And depending on what kind of TV you're hooking it to, primo video cables are a must. See you soon...
I have wireless and the lag can get TERRIBLE. Unless the 360 is in the same room as the router I wouldn't reccommend it.
I have wireless and I don't exeperience lag in Halo 3 or COD4 MP .... and my router is about 100yds from my 360 ..... but i also have the 360 networking adapter though, and an open NAT. back to the topic though, there is really no reason to wait to buy the 360. I haven't heard any rumors about any more price drops.
I recommend plugging directly into your modem via Ethernet if you can. Ask Yavi I am directly below my modem and I am only separated by a floor and the lag really does show.
well Yavi, actually when I was having troubles with my internetz my neighbor told me I could start linking into his router for my 360, so my PC links to my own router, while my 360 links across the street. I only have minute instances of lag though, I actually prefer it to the way my wired connection behaved.
wired connections FTW, because of the lack of ^ and the fact that you can see what your fixing and where your problem is, but it all comes down to taste i guess.. anyway, if it matters to you, Microsoft does have a new slew of 360's coming out with new chips in them (more up-to-date than the phoenix) and reports (not confirmed) of a built in HD DVD player. It's your call, the difference between chips can be noticeable, but for the average consumer, i doubt it makes a difference... There is no release date yet for the new 360's...so if you have the money, id probably get it now
The thing is, when I went to buy a 360, it wasn't just 400 dollars, because you need to buy everything else with it. By the time I got 2 games, another wireless controller, Plug and play kit, and the warranty. It was close to 700 dollars! So you need to realize that you will end up putting alot more money into the system when you first buy it then you realize
Just buy it as soon as you can. Although you'll be limited with barely enough money to squeeze in one console and Halo 3. You can always purchase the other stuff later, although I'm not sure how the 360 treats saving memory without the use of a memory card or an HDD. I believe it still works though. An HDD is over $100, but it has 20 gigs and will last you nearly forever if you delete unwanted downloads everynow and then.
You can all ways buy a refurb HDD for $60, and I think a refurb wireless controller cost 10$ less than a new one. All of the packages comes with HDMI and a wireless controller now. I herd that a 280g HDD is coming out in the fall.
