I need some people's opinions real quick. I'm busy forging a map and then I came across this ledge that you can't walk up. I'm debating whether to make a staircase out of bridges that lead up to it or to just make a ramp. Heres a couple quick pics of thePrototypes(not the official version):: Stairs made out of bridges:: Ramp:: Here are the pros and cons I've thought up for each so far:: Stairs:: Pros - You don't see this very often, could be a unique part of my map. - Look a little bit more realistic than a ramp in my opinion. Cons -Kinda bumby. -Can't make the last part without jumping if your standing still on it. - Takes 6 bridges which could be used elsewhere. Ramp:: Pros - Smoother - Takes up less resources Cons - Harder to place perfectly. - Doesn't look that great. -Doesn't really look that realistic or unique in my opinion. - Can't get on it from the side unless I come up with an idea how to. I'm honostly split, please help me make the best decision. Thanks. I want to make a decision by tommorow so please vote. ps. The stairs are a definite choice in my opinion! The ramp, as you say, doesn't look that great at all and has been done. The stairs really caught my eye and could be a unique feature in your map and I am sure people will take this idea and put in their maps =D
Those stairs are sweet, but a real resource killer. I'd just do the ramp, even if it doesn't look too pretty.
OMg i got it... you could let the noobs just jump... or you could raise the fence walls just a little bit...?
Thanks for the feedback so far. I'd still like some more opinions though. Unfortunatly, the fence walls are placed at the height of the columns which I really want that way so, I don't think I'll take that option. You've said you want the ramp but, it still doesn't have any votes so I'll use this as a reminder to please vote because that's what I'm going to look at most.
just go on with building your map, with making sure you have at least 1 bridge left, if you do have enough bridges left then you can make the stairs if not you have gotta do it with the ramp or another downside of your map.
Yeah I've planned it out and I can make it with the stairs, I'll just have to use walls for the floor in a small area. It might look a little better in that area if I used those extra bridges though.
Tree ramps for a losey set of stairs I would use one. Unless you dont need then but Im always running out of ramps.
or you could angle the fence walls to make one large ramp. Unless that messes with the map, I think it's the best idea.
