I downloaded a map yesterday from a... 'Friend' I guess you could say at the Halo 3 board at GameFAQs. It was a pretty simple shape, just rectangular with little fortifications at either end, Machine Gun Turrets, Sniper Holes etc., but there were two ways from base to base. One was just across the floor over wall panels past barricades and fence walls lying at angles, and the other was beneath the floor in a section that you had to crouch under.

The map wasn't particularly cleanly designed, most of it was pretty weak, but I just liked the idea of the crouching sections. Crouch-walking right under the floor (there were barricades and some ammo and powerups under there, too) took about half a minute which was a bit slow, but I thought it was a neat idea and could be put to more practical, enjoyable use elsewhere.

So, has forcing players into a crouch been done particularly extensively before?

    Right.

I'm imagining, say, a length of crouch section running down the side of a map that's not too wide, but every so often, you can stand and jump out or in to it, may eliminate part of the tediousness.

Thanks for the quick response, anyway.

    What Grave?

    Back OT-
The idea is pretty old, not well done from what I've seen.

I have never seen this "being forced into a crouch" thing before. Maybe you could make a cool splinter cell map out of it with air conditioning ducks at the ceiling and you could drop into the battle that way. The openings should be covered by pallets so you could break them open to get a more realistic feel.

I did it on the map with the Blood-Brazilian Trap.

There are two barricades in a room, and a ton of little barrels surrounding them, making a space in the middle enough to hide 2-3 people crouching. On top of those I put pallets (2) and two machine gun turrets on top of that. To block the entrance to make it a 'secret hideout' from the zombies, I put a Weapon Holder with a Spartan Laser in front of it.

The times I hide there are the only times when I win Infection Games...

Damnit! There are air ducks in that map? I thought it was just a splintercell mansion style map. I has no idea about air ducks or the crouching thing. :squirrel_wtf:
