Welcome back to another series of ForgeHub's Community Favorite Maps! We gathered all of your nominations from last month and put the top ten up for a vote. In case you haven't noticed, we're playing a little game of catch-up with our community favorites results this month. A surprising amount of work goes into delivering these piping hot Forge delicacies each and every month. So sit down, put your bib on, and let's dig into this second helping of Community Favorites this month, this time with your mouth watering results for October!
(Update: Apparently I'm not allowed to write when I'm hungry anymore. Hmmph!)
Here are the nominations and winners for this month!
Any Halo veteran worth their weight in spent shells can recognize this scenery. This 2v2 map was brought to us by Nano and serves as a rather faithful recreation of the final confrontation with Heretic Leader Sesa 'Refumee. One look at the play space and you can instantly tell where inspiration was drawn from. Pulling the look together is a Covenant Seraph hovering just above the center of the map. This Seraph was originally a prefab built by NOBLE706, who allowed Nano to make some slight modifications to fit the map. Give the image above a click and try out Oracle in your custom lobbies! You might wanna grab two holograms first; especially if you're squaring off against the Arbiter.
Is now a bad time to say I've never played Dark Souls 2? My lackluster gaming skills aside, this map is gorgeous with or without context. Originally an aesthetic recreation of the Sir Alonne boss fight in Dark Souls 2, PUNISHER2510 set out to rescale the arena for another purpose; Grifball. Avid readers may recognize both PUNISHER and Grifball to be a dynamic duo in these last two Community Favorites. Winning last month's 1st place and this month's 2nd; we can always count on PUNISHER's aesthetic prowess to make hitting each other with hammers just that much more beautiful. Dodge-roll on over to Halo Waypoint and bookmark this map today!
It's not everyday that we get a map like Tribunal. One that so seamlessly blends a unique design philosophy with incredible visuals. Seriously, Tribunal makes you forget you're playing a Forge map. The decrepit aura and lighting help immerse the player without hindering gameplay, and the map's emphasis on vertical encounters is something to admire. Tribunal utilizes more power-ups than your traditional maps, but not a one feels out of place. Soldat also credits @Ryley and @ExTerrestr1al for helping with the beast-face in the thumbnail and some scripted lighting respectively. To summarize; you need to play this one for yourself. To check out some gameplay, follow this link to Soldat's personal showcase. Just watch your step on your way, and watch out for tripwires.
We can't wait to see what other maps the community makes. Tune in next time as we'll be sharing some of the best maps made each month!
