I don't think people on twitter actually care enough about Halo or Forgehub contests, and they definitely aren't the ones submitting maps. Listening to an entire community to decide something is more than unwise, and I recall the community voicing the same opinion when the staff decided to leave the winners of the 2v2 contest up to a vote because 'it was just too hard to decide'. Unfortunately, it takes at least some effort to decide what parts of the community to listen to.
I bought bots to vote btb. It didnt actually win. Now I kinda feel bad about it. I literally wrecked all of you for 8 dollars though so gg.
Have you forged in Reach much before? Are you hoping to actually release this as playable, or are you just working on designs?
The design is done, I need to go in and set up the game types and spawns. I started forging in Reach back in the day, not so much mapping, just learning the forge engine and how it worked. I really started forging “maps” in halo 4 and then moved to MCC. I obviously found forgehub pretty late in the game so I never really had a reference for quality or process until then. If I release a map it will most likely be on the more competitive side if that even really exist in Reach given the AA’s. If you have any reference for quality reach maps send me a link. Appreciate it.
Well here are some starting points for you. The lighting is typically not good in that area. You'd be better off building it outside and enclosing it. Lights and any objects with glass are typically pretty bad for framerate. Speaking of framerate, here's a thread you can check out on that - https://www.forgehub.com/threads/avoiding-framerate-issues-guide.110531/#post-1281534 Regarding Maps you can check out that will give you a good understanding of how competitive forgers approached things, here are a couple of links to get you started: Waldo the Lemon - https://www.forgehub.com/search/32141027/ Eigthball - https://www.forgehub.com/search/32141312/ Also recommend checking out maps from XzampleZ, Secret Schnitzel, The Muppet King, and Purely Fat. You should be able to search for them by name. Finally, these are not all top notch, but this is a list of the Forgehub Favorites from Reach - https://www.forgehub.com/threads/forgehub-favorites-halo-reach.153282/ If you have any other specific questions, ask away.
Angst by @xzamplez is one of my favourites : ) And I recommend watching all of Ducks features from back in the day for educational purposes/nostalgia @a Chunk You've got quite the library of map walkthroughs I really appreciate! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiKdBZ48W6i8dV9oejjxlzWwehEhC2iH1
How do you guys feel about the new gamertag feature? I'm not really stoked about it. If every gamertag that would now have numbers had a specific #code that's searchable on it's own then I'd be fine with it but I expect there to be a common occurance of not being able to search or find someone because they have mixed in random symbols or characters. I search people's stats all the time on FPS games and I could see it being an issue for filesharing in situations like ours here on forgehub. Plus imagine how long overhead and killfeed names will be in multiplayer, although you do only get 12 characters for here on out. 3 characters less is a huge hit to what you can make a gamertag now.
