The poll concluded with BTB (one flag CTF) being our next contest. I was personally hoping for 2v2 but think feedback loops are really important, so we'll have to stick to BTB as our next contest. Just postponing writing the article because I know what I'll be getting myself into This will be a difficult contest to judge and I don't want to repeat any of our previous failures on releasing results in a timely manner. I'll hope for the best but know it will be really difficult to get test lobbies together. pray for me...
If lobbies are going to be hard to come by, then you may want to consider true 1-flag. If it’s possible to scale down the btb variant for 4v4 then you could solve a lot of problems at once. Plus, Twitter polls don’t tell you anything about who is actually willing and able to participate.
BTB should not have been an option, considering the current population and testing lobby challenges. I say don’t compound that mistake by running a contest that’s likely to be unsuccessful.

chunk and icyhot are right, twitter polls aren't a good indicator of interest in participating and if you guys go through with a btb contest then it'll end poorly. getting lobbies consistently for stress testing simply isn't viable at 8v8 these days if you truly want to get results out in a more timely manner. Not to mention the fact that there will probably be plenty of people burned out from btb testing and forging considering the months of btb testing that were concluded less than a month ago. Just drop btb. i'd personally like to see 2s get some love again, it's what most of the active members here want and already forge for anyway, you know, the people who will actually create the content for a contest. and i think this should go without saying at this point, but contests from this point on should only allow for new submissions or maps created within a certain time frame prior to the announcement of a new contest, submitting maps that are over a year old doesn't provide anything new for anyone.
Not to mention nobody has a clue on how to design BTB for "Halo" 5 and I can't think of any qualified judges that wld be able to properly judge for it. I say save a BTB contest for the 1st or 2nd contest in Infinite and come in swinging. At this point in time we sadly do not have a custom game population large enough, or competent enough, to test BTB. This is coming from me. I'm a BTB fiend. I just wanna see it done right.
@WARHOLIC there ought to be enough conscious, aware, intelligent people here telling you plainly that a BTB contest in the waning days of Halo 5 would be a disaster. Please, don’t do it. You just had a ‘BTB’ competition with Husky Raid. 4v4 1-Flag is the way to go. Twitter polls are meaningless. @Soldat Du Christ just because he thinks it’s right doesn’t mean he should keep doing it, or that he deserves the blessing of the almighty. You flay yourself for his supposed benefit? There are better ways to live than as a martyr to irrationality.
By the wording of War's post it seems like his mind was set to do the BTB thing from the beginning, and since he's a robot, you all basically wasted your time trying to talk him out of it. Have fun with yet another shitty contest

I think we could do BTB but I'm a really optimistic person and sometimes that gets the best of me. I know our judging times have been inconsistent for contests and want to improve our reputation in that area. I love BTB and think it would be a lot of fun to judge but I'm not confident we would be able to run it properly. The latest BTB update was really great and I think it has a lot of life left in it. Perhaps 2v2 or 4v4 1 flag CTF would be the smartest way to approach our next contest... Huge thanks to everyone pitching in right now.
The primary issue with running BTB right now is that even if the judges do everything that's within their control flawlessly, there's one MAJOR thing that's largely out of their control, and that's the other testers. Given recent history with contests, I'd really hate to see a negative result because of factors that are outside of your control, especially when we know going into it that this is a huge concern.
If you want to improve your reputation in concistency, don't do BTB. You can improve the whole process on a smaller, more clearer and easier judgeable contest. You don't have to prove anything, but if you really want to improve, set the bar on a reasonable level and take it from there.
If we do end up having a BTB contest, make me a Judge @WARHOLIC . Ill be able to eliminate 90% of the maps after looking through all the submissions once. Results wont take long at all folks. That's how confident I am the overwhelming majority of the maps will be ****. Why? There will be few, if any, competent forgers that would sub maps.
I know it probably feels wrong to go against the poll and what people asked for but everyone makes a good point here. There's just not enough people for BTB testing. I think that probably should've been considered before creating the poll but what's done is done now. The difficult thing now will just be to announce a 2v2 or 4v4 1 flag contest without upsetting the Twitter crowd. Maybe you could just explain that btb might not be viable and it shouldn't of been part of the poll. I feel for you in this situation because of course you want to honour the majority vote but I just think that 2v2 is the better options and would, judging by this thread,get you the best forgers onboard and so best map out of the process.
