This priority system will be ranked from 1 - 5, where 1 is VERY HIGH and 5 is VERY LOW * I enjoy forge and the huge improvements that have been added to every iteration. Here are some things. I will try and prioritize but really I just feel like everything that most forgers here have said should be done to improve the user experience. P1. Allow for scripting to be saved as a prefab for application to an item. Such as a door script or and simple rotation movement scripts. Default builds could work but make them easily modifiable. P1. The forge user hud or object properties menu needs a more user friendly build. Such as color wheel, ability to type in numbers instead of scrolling forever, scaling objects, light brightness and such. The scrolling was unbelievably tiresome on console. Editable organizational layout. Let the user move or manipulate certain hierarchies of objects, lights, colors. ect. P1. Undo button in forge/ step back option. p1. Select ALL option. This would help with moving an entire map to a new canvas. p2. Ability to test scripts/ and custom game feature in forge like a custom game. A play option if you will in forge so you don't have to leave and come back. p2. No kill map kill boundary in forged customs.. Let the forger create it. And if you must put one in matchmaking maps or disc maps allow the option for removal. p2. Custom textures P3. Ai characters for custom campaign builds and enriched custom game experimentation. Again this will prolong the playability. p3. vehicle speed manipulation p3 Character/vehicle camera manipulation.. Allow us to shift the cameras positions from 1st to 3rd will give a wider range of custom game ability and a longer life for halo's play-ability. p3. Volumetric manipulation. Let the forgers control the color, size and animation speed of fx emitters and volumetric effects. This would allow for stunning atmospheric visuals. p3. Simplify the spawning for CTF and objective games. I know that this might just be my lack of experience but I feel like it should be simpler to prevent people from spawning on your side in ctf. To have to assign spawn order and such just seems like to many steps. p3. Water with the ability to adjust the wave pattern. p4. Option for no weapon starts for custom games. p4. Full alphabet and number objects. p4. allow us to be elites again and give us the option to choose which flood look for our characters during infection games. p5. bring back all the brute stuff from halo 3. I am sure I have forgotten things I have said in the past to myself and others. If I think of anything else I will try and put it on here. I realize that many forgers are saying the same things I hope we all get what we want... * Thank you for giving us a platform and thank you for your time. I have been critical of many things in the past and have been verbal about it. This is only because I love the franchise so much and have spent many years enjoying a product that I want to succeed and to get better. Thank you
P1. Proper geometry instead of blocks. Doubt this is very likely to happen, but moving away from using objects for the main geometry in maps could hopefully help a ton with performance, be more flexible and free up a good amount of objects to be used for detail. P1. Object render options. Performance issues have always been a headache in Forge and it's about time we get more control over our objects to alleviate this problem. Render and fade distance options would be very much appreciated. More control over what gets renders it specific locations would also be appreciated. P2. Performance benchmark testing. To tie in with what I mentioned above it'd be great to have a consistent way to test performance. Having a way to record performance during a (custom) match or even just a flythrough of a map would help immensely with pinpointing areas on maps with framerate issues. P2. Full texture and decal support. Forge maps have always had problems looking anything but shiny, plastic and sterile. The implementation of textures in Halo 5 helped significantly with getting past this, but we're still not quite where I'd like it to be. More textures are obviously needed, but also more control (position, size) would be nice. Decals also have a great potential, but need to be less glitchy (try using them on foggy maps) and also need to be more useful. Decals of stains, rust or dirt are a lot more useful for making a map look lived in than a random white line. P3. Proper file organization. I feel like we've made more steps backwards with the map file system than forward since 343 took over and it's time we get a proper one. Folders, gametype and map linking, and a halfway decently made UI are long overdue. There's probably a million things I'm forgetting, but I haven't touched Forge in ages so this is all I could come up with off the top of my head.
Would anyone prefer a "polygon-texture" oriented editor as opposed to the current "canvas-object" oriented editor that we have now, by chance?
Let me declare and write my own variables for scripting. Being constrained to the channels is absolutely infuriating and it makes it difficult to keep track of what part of your script does what. In menus, let players type in the numbers rather than having the scroll for hours to get to the number they need. Especially for timing scripts and object coordinates
Here's an idea, ditch the scripting system and then just have programmable gametype references available when you open an object's "associations" tab, THEN, create a new tool that is designed to manipulate the gametype variant logic that would replace / enhance the custom game settings, and from there, players could build script trees. A gametype logic editor would also be very handy for remaking game modes like Halo 4 CLUE, Medal Madness, minigames, etc. So yeah, create a gametype logic editor.
I WOULD LIKE THE ABILITY TO MANIPULAT SHADOWS THAT OBJECTS CAST... Making a shadow more visible, less visible. Disrupting the shadows shape. Changing the shadows colour THE ABILITY TO MANIPULAT LIGHT REFLECTION AND LIGHT REFRACTION More fx .. Player perspective. This would be very nice for mini games .. I. E Race gametypes In helmet point of view.. In car point of view.
Finally got around to typing this all up. Its a bit long so hold on to yer butts. Undo Button-P3 I feel like this one is pretty self explanatory, would be nice if you could undo the last piece/group if you accidentally bumped/deleted said item/group. No Clipping Through everything toggle-P2 Haven't seen too many people talk about this, but having the ability to noclip as a monitor through not only forge objects, but actual map terrain would be extremely beneficial. This can be useful for grabbing objects that are stuck within other objects/terrain as well as easily being able to easily enter and exit enclosed forge maps without having to move any pieces that may be difficult to move back into place. Terrain editor-P3 This would be super awesome because we wouldn't have to use individual pieces to build the terrain. From experience building Snowbound and Highground for the classic playlist, the terrain was an absolute nightmare to try and get exactly like the original. Terrain editor would certainly be beneficial. All the games skyboxes available on a forge canvas-P1 I think all the more hardcore forgers would agree with me on this, even if the skybox only covers half the map for some reason, I still want the ability to use it. Put every skybox in the game on the forge canvas, and yes I mean all of them. Every skybox we have just helps us better accomplish a maps theme. Complete control of map lighting-P1 The ability to control the maps lighting source and cube map location would be simply amazing. Being able to change the maps lighting color to anything, and then change the cubemap lighting, which we can already do through a trick, but built into a tool would just be amazing and would allow maps to really come together whereas in the past they may have been too dark due to the lighting location. What I do now to all my maps is I finish them in their entirety, then I group and rotate the entire map for optimal lighting. This is in no way ideal, as it essentially requires the entire map to be shifted and turned and takes up a lot of time. Scale/Stretch items if limiting maybe only primitives-P2 If we can't get scaling/stretching on all items, just primitives would be fine as they are just blank surfaces. Too many times have I had to use 2 blocks when it should really just be 1 but because of the locked sizes, we have to use 2. This would certainly help with framerate issues and overall piece count for forge maps a lot. More textures-P1 This is a given I believe, more textures is always great as it just adds the ability to pack in more detail on flat surfaces. More Texture Overlays-P1 Texture overlays are fantastic, but I would like to see more unique overlays rather than just grime and frost sort of overlays. What about a grid styled overlay that would make the pieces look as if they were tiled? Or something more along the lines of a hardwood floor, so you can put on the wood texture and then make it look as if it was a real hardwood floor. Just being able to add more detail from the overlay is something that I really want. Ability to scale textures/overlays-P1 I know we can kinda scale overlays now, but I want the ability to be able to scale the textures so that they are larger or smaller. A good example of where this could help is that I see a lot of people don't like the stone texture, because the stones are too small and don't look that great on most maps. Having the ability to scale those stones would be amazing and would certainly make me use that texture a lot more. Being able to scale the overlays would be great too, because if you wanted to put in that tiled floor or hardwood overlay from above, you could scale it however you wish allowing for larger/smaller tiles. Ability to color/texture all items-P1 I don't care if it looks ridiculous. I want the ability to change every items color and texture. The amount of times I wanted to use an object but couldn't, simply because it couldn't be colored or textured, is far too high. Color wheel/Color all items including vehicles-P2 Give us that color wheel and ability to change everythings color. If I want a pink mongoose, I should be able to have it. We had it Reach so why not. Ability to mirror objects/groups-P1 Currently, while grouping objects does help make somewhat symmetrical maps, they don't actually help in making perfectly symmetrical maps. That's why a mirror tool is needed. We would actually only have to make half the map and then we could mirror it to the other side. FPS counter-P1 I do a lot of Framerate help with the recent classic playlist, and the only way we've been able to actually see what the framerate on some of these maps actually was, was having someone from 343 go into our map with some special dev xbox that has an fps counter on it. Just add one into forge. No performance bar, I want actual numbers. Name locations (ability to draw them, they snap together so there's no dead space-P2 Name locations are the bane of every forgers existence. Currently they are terrible to place down and are just an outright pain to do. Having some way to actually draw them and have each one connect to the closest one or something would be amazing. Getting name locations to actually not have any gaps or anything in them in their current state is incredibly difficult. Change name locations to anything. (you can type it in)-P1 Obviously there will be the people that abuse this, but if minecraft can have signs that say whatever, I don't see why we cant have name locations that can say whatever we want them to. Currently its an absolute pain scrolling through the massive amount of name locations, especially when some of the name locations are not included for red/blue and vise versa. Unlimited budget or recommended budget, but you can go over it however you please-P2 I've seen quite a few maps that perform perfectly fine with the budget maxed out. Although they are rare, it does happen from time to time. If people dont mind playing their map at 45 fps, why even have the budget. Don't limit people into what they can create, Id impose a recommended budget, sort of what the current lighting budget is, it can reach 100% but it can go over if need be. Ungroup all items option-P4 This is just something that would be nice as currently grouped items can cause some framerate and other lighting bugs, im sure there are other uses this would be good for, but this would just be nice to have. Create own filters with color wheel-P2 Having the ability to brighten up a map with a filter is something that the nova filter does very well with in Halo 5. However if we had the ability to make our own filters to aid in better setting the mood of a map, that would be fantastic. Change game mode settings in forge-P1 This is something that is very much so needed. If you are building a map for a specific gamemode, you would want to make sure your spartan has the same traits applied to them as they are in the gamemode the map will be played on. We had struggles with this during the classic playlist, as the gravity and movement is different, we had to launch forge, alter man cannon trajectory, exit forge and launch in custom games, and keep doing that until you get it just right. Major pain and takes much longer than it should have to be changed correctly. Smooth Vehicle Welding-P4 Having the ability to make custom vehicles is amazing, I just really want a pelican, but since that won't ever happen I will have to settle for a welded pelican. I want it to be able to fly/move smoothly. Ability to have objects have damage ratios that can be damaged by projectiles-P4 This can be used in so many ways, main use I see is the ability for custom welded vehicles to actually take damage when they are shot at. With a simple script a pelican would be able to actually explode if the damage ratio hit zero, essentially making custom vehicles an actually viable option in maps. Water decal/texture-P1 With the inclusion of the underwater filter, if we just had a thin decal like piece that looked like the top of water in varying size or a customizable size, that'd be fantastic. Bonus points for being able to recolor the water to make it look like lava/different colored waters. Smaller rock pieces-P3 If we get object scaling this can be null and void, but currently the smallest rock pieces are the small boulders, and they are extremely rounded, making it hard to work with a lot of them. More small rocks that have natural rock shapes. Change Rock Textures-P2 Instead of having all the different rock types, it would be amazing if we could get the ability to just change the rocks type without changing out the rocks for the other type of rocks. Just like how we currently can change textures on other items. Seat item-P3 2 versions. One is a visible seat the other is invisible. These are used to add the ability for spartans to sit where they couldn't before. This would allow for people to make custom vehicles or just nice aesthetic screenshots. Want to add the ability to sit on the side of the scorpion again? Just weld the seat item to it! This can also be used on the pelican and warthog to create massive troop transports for customs. No actual map boundaries for forge maps-P2 The number of times an item has glitched an insane amount of units above a forge canvas to the point it is actually unreachable without selecting all of that item is far too high. What I would recommend is have a “safe” area, that is clearly outlined like they are currently in Halo 5’s forge. And if you go outside that area, have a warning pop up on your hud saying you are outside the recommended forging boundary, you may experience lighting issues or broken sky boxes or whatever else that could be experienced. It's also annoying when i'm making a map close to one of the canvases boundaries, and I get the 10 second soft kill, its just irritating when I know you can get out of the map through teleporters, but there's this wall thats obstructing me from maneuvering a piece in the way I want to. Inclusion of special emblem/helmet/unlockables for forgers/community features-P2 Having a special unlockable for people to try and obtain is amazing. Make invisible Blockers able to have toggles that can change what can be blocked-P1 I don't want to place a different blocker on top of another for every type of thing I want them to block. Just having one type of invisible blocker and then being able to toggle on Projectiles/Players/Vehicles/Grenades/Whatever else could be blocked would be extremely beneficial and much easier to work with.

I thought of something that could pottentially be phenominal for everyone. Imagine if we had the ability to edit individual weapon values. It could be made simple too. Now I am sure some are asking, "what is the point?" well the point is that we can create classic halo gameplay ourselves if the devs choose a different direction for Halo. Give us 3 values for each weapon or something simple. -Red reticle range (range at which aim assist starts) -DMG per shot -Spread With these values open to editing we can appeal to classic fans and modern fans alike without taking a massive risk or taking tons of dev time. With the power of Halo 6 forge the community themselves can decide what they prefer and everyone will be happy. Just an idea.
We needed more suggestions for AI. Can't believe it didn't make it on the list. Aside from the obvious use for campaign like designs / missions, I think there is a lot of potential for it to evolve the way we design infection maps. To start, you could replace the two infected humans at the start of matches with AI until they start killing off humans. Hope we didn't miss our chance to drive AI features in our requests.
Having been trying to make classic style settings I would extremely appreciate this feature! Last game of Arena I played the only weapons on the map were a Tactical Magnum and a Plasma Pistol! When we have basically no weapons on the map in what was a pickup based game can we please all acknowledge Halo 5s sandbox is the most broken we have EVER had! Also I'd love AI @WARHOLIC I've been out of the loop for a while, has some sort of deadline passed for taking major suggestions? Always figured being able to forge Firefight maps (meaning up to 4 people holding out, not that warzone bs) would be the ultimate way to complete Halo as a game with infinite replay value. A community that can continue to provide an unlimited amount of both PvP and PvE maps is going to last some time assuming the base game works. On top of that, more transparency and greater efforts to involve the community maps into official matchmaking playlists would be great, as well as realizing that Forge maps can provide for both Social and Ranked. The stigma that forge maps can't be competitive blows my mind! A forge map can be literally any layout conceivable. I'm sure new Arena maps were being cried out for long ago yet none of the DLC maps held up at a high level. With more outreach and specific criteria openly provided in regards to what is being looked for, matchmaking could be kept fresh without devs having to invest in making new maps all the time.
the way the game handles the files, it cannot do an undo any other way than making you back out w/o saving... it is due to the fact that all files are stored on the cloud, which I don't see them changing. Local files cause all sorts of issues for devs, like the possibility of cracking them externally. If they give us a very different situation, then an Undo is possible, or I should say, practical.
Avoiding people hacking gamemodes seems rather ridiculous to me, Halo 4 had some incredble gamemodes/maps that only got to exist because of this.
