    buildings specifically being constructed to collapse in a way that doesn't decimate everything around it, I see nothing wrong here

    What do you know about the architecture of that building? It wasn't designed to collapse at free fall speed due to office fires. No buildings are, that's not how physics or architecture work. For a building to collapse in that symmterical fashion at free fall speed all core support columns must be destroyed simultaneously.
