I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. Subjectively I believe that the pancake is objectively better because it not only takes less time to make one but is softer than a waffle so there is less dynamic chewing going on allowing it to start the digestive process faster.
Do you want melt in your mouth softness with butter and maple being as thick or as thin as possible or Do you want a crunchy firmness that traps maple and butter in every square
@MultiLockOn “I consider those ‘objective’ aspects basic knowledge to any competent level designer. That is why i place more emphasis on subjectivity.“ Im just stuck on why you feel the need to have everyone agree with you, rather than accepting the fact that people have different values. When I brought up the issues I had with your maps, I always carefully chose my words as not to say that the changes I’d make were objectively better. Every issue I had came from a place of logic and experience, and yet I was still willing to accept that not everyone would agree with my suggestions, despite the, in my opinion, positive impacts it would have on the gameplay. I am a person who sees life in shades of grey. Very neutral, sometimes indecisive, and very prepared for my views to continue to change. You see the world in black and white. Right and wrong. And, for the record: I was like you are in Reach. Thats what I was trying to get at ealier. We are fundamentally different. It goes beyond level design. If you want to make another video, go for it. But, if you think it’ll spark some profound change in me, prepare to be disappointed.
Objectivity and subjectivity both exist in level design. Personally I'd say there's more that's subjective, or at least not understood enough to judge objectively. But I guess that's just my opinion. I do however believe, perhaps a little more weight should be given to the objective side and what we know works. However, subjectivity is still very important as it helps encourage creativity. The worst thing we can do is force criteria for maps on people as that will ruin people's creativity. Even if one map was considered objectively the best, people would get sick of it after a while and just want something fresh and new. My understanding of level design is behind a lot of you guys, I'll admit, so I'm looking forward to Multis upcoming stuff anyway to hopefully learn something. The first 4 episodes of his "how to design a map" series are great. Wasn't so sure of ep5
i'm sick of all these words at this point. it's time to make fresh and new ones. level design is sometimes mawltonic and occasionally axandrous, but in fact it's actually alegmissopholan
My waffles usually have so much syrup on them they become just as soft as a pancake therefore rendering your argument useless.
I'll sum it up for you. Some traumatic event or realization that made him focus on being a "zealot" from then on + a deep and unspoken authority/domination fetish that was then applied as some justified excuse for his opinions (facts, actually) on things. Congrats, you now know his bio up until this point.
