this is how many minutes i'm going to spend on a mindless forge challenge. maybe not tonight but will post the results when i do
I know, I know. We've been complaining about it for years. It should've happened a long time ago. It should continue to happen frequently. I get it. The fact that something that should happen is happening isn't something I care to complain about.
Wait so am I making a video about how corrupt 343 is because Givens map made it into matchmaking?!?!? The **** bro?!?
I've been wondering lately if we're ever going to get the one thing we've wanted forever, but never received - a developer recreation of a forge map. This seriously needs to be a thing at some point. A contest where the winner gets their map recreated with developer tools and added to the game. @Given To Fly @343Postums @Black Picture @SIR IRON WOLF @Randy 355 @WhoeverIMissed@343 Make it happen!
I talked about this the other day but I forget who it was with. I'm not a legal expert so take this with a grain of salt, but basically I think it'll never happen though for the following reasons: 1. The things we create in Forge are protected intellectual property that we "own". The reason I denote that as such is because they have no way of knowing whether the map is 100% original, or if we ripped it from some obscure game. I could take a map from a random shooter, change a couple hallways, make it in Forge, and then have it show up as a launch map for Halo 6. But then the developer of that obscure shooter can sue 343 and Microsoft. So 343 cannot officially create and make money off of our maps unless we are employed by them and probably sign NDAs that give up our protections and our ideas to them, while guaranteeing that our ideas are not plagiarized. 2. 343 owns Forge, so they can do whatever they want with our Forge maps. It doesn't matter what we make in Forge as long as it doesn't explicitly infringe on another IP (like a Star Wars map), because then they can't really put that in matchmaking. Forge is basically a mutual ground where both parties are protected by Microsoft. The only way a Forge map will ever be made into an official dev map is if a Forger is hired by 343 and makes one of the Forge maps for Halo in-engine. There's too much legal gray area, and if there was an actual contest sanctioned by 343, all of the participants would have to sign something at some point.
With dev tools, it could potentially be easy. I don't know what they use internally but I'm sure there's a way to export the forge pieces as a cluster and then blockout over it with actual mesh like tracing it. I'd honestly volunteer my time to do a couple and get to learn the tools as reward. haha. I'd just love to see it happen in general.
Shia Labeouf disagrees with your assessment, and I'm gonna go with him on this one. Here was his advice to all forgers everywhere: Spoiler And if you 343 folks still don't think you can do it... Shia gave me another message to pass on to you: Spoiler Pretty convincing if you ask me.
It's not so much rape as it is putting a full latex body suit on your teeth whilst Conan O'Brian shrink wraps you with a vacuum
