@CertifiedChamp So as I feared, the towers are just effectively little circular rooms. The broken visuals are cool, but it's a shame that they aren't more incorporated into the map. As far as the layout, I think it could be boiled down to a bunch of terrain paths going uphill with 3 intermittent towers. There's some cool stuff in there like the jump from the terrain overlook into the window at the top of one of the towers, but I think it's overall pretty uninspired compared to your other work. You could get a lot more bang for your buck by chroma-boxing. I'm convinced that it's the only way to make things look genuinely dilapidated. You have a ton of objects into those towers and it still just looks... okay. It's not you, it's just the nature of forge.
I was originally trying to do something I normally wouldn't do for that map -to step out of my comfort zone for both art and layout but I realize that I fell right back into my old habits (heavy terrain and less vertical play) The map was far more terrain heavy than I intended originally and I toned down the overall height of the map purely out of habit. With that being said, I have a few ideas for how to better implement the towers, and make the map taller like I wanted to. You're absolutely right about it being uninspired, and I don't plan on releasing it until I feel like I've done something drastically different from anything I've released before, thanks for the feedback too, I appreciate it
I work on my one and only map still from time to time and try to make it better. Recently I tore down the original red and blue hides and replaced them with a new design. Gone are the sandbags and wood pillbox and updated to a concrete pillbox with colourable shields. I'm still a rookie with the ole forge tools, but I'm pretty happy with them... If I could just figure out what's actually wrong with the design though I'd be much happier. (I made a different post about it, shields won't respawn after being popped)
How do you guys deal with de-synchronized pieces from Forge to Customs? Like the piece is straight in Forge but slightly tilted in Customs?
Finally a use for all those over detailed pieces! I take a 2x2x? And measure how far the affected piece moves from said 2x2 (the ? Delegates length for doing multiple pieces at once or bigger pieces) Those extra notches of detail make your trips between forge and customs less frequent
Lmao I COULD finish it and I still might because I'm really happy about one of the main areas, and I'm not going to have any budget trouble. It's just that I get on to forge and lose the determination to think because my mind is occupied by something else It would be cool to have another map to play and to get the band back together for a few nights of halo so there's a good chance I do this thing. I'm likely just going to coast the rest of the way so it won't be anything crazy but it's fun just to see how good you can get things to look with so few objects IF you have good lighting. I think I'm as good as anyone at lighting at this point when I try, and I didn't even rent a book on it
It's pretty obvious he can see better than the average human. Here are the only realistic explanations: - Super human eyesight - He's nocturnal - He's a deep sea creature disguised as a human
Maybe he was born in the dark, molded by it. Maybe he didn't see the light till he was already a man /seanconneryvoice
