HCS 2018 - Forge Map Selections

As some may have noticed on Twitter, @HCS just announced the two Community Forge Map selections that will be added the 2018 season. @N3gat1veZer0 's Fissure and @Squally DaBeanz 's Echelon were the final two after the rigorous testing from the HCS community.

This week, the map candidates went under the microscope and the forgers were forced to work out any changes necessary on at a moments notice to have their maps ready in less than 24 hours for the next official play tests. So kudos to @N3gat1veZer0 @Squally DaBeanz @Blaze @Erk @Foge @THE SLAMMERSS on staying humble, receptive and representing the forge community well during this last week. Your hard work and effort were definitely noticed and for that the ForgeHub staff wants to say thank you!

Remember their work has just now begun. In the coming weeks, Negative and Squally will have to work closely with HCS Pros on map feedback in order to have these maps finalized before the 2018 season begins.

So let's all give @N3gat1veZer0 and @Squally DaBeanz a huge congrats and good luck!

This is literally a new step for everyone, truly venturing to merge Forge with the HCS competitive scene. We all look forward to seeing the reception of these maps going forward and the ones to come. Congratulations to you both!

I figured it'd come down to Echelon, Fissure, and Russet. Sorry to see Russet not make it, but completely excited to see both Echelon and Fissure accepted. Btw, I really loved the aesthetic look of Fissure... IMO it was one of the best looking options too. Congrats to the two forgers and to the community. I hope those two maps find their way into additional playlists too like Team Arena, Team Slayer, and SWAT.

Honestly, I hope in the next Halo game, they look at some of these maps. A few btb and arena maps that can be dev made and brought back. I think after many games, they don’t need to bring back Viking/Ragnarok/Valhalla. Seriously though, congrats to the community for this. So many good forgers out there now.

I'd love to see any new Halo title find ways to re-imagine some of the iconic classics from the past. I'll always be happy to see certain maps make a return or at least get a new take on them via re-imagined. For BTB I'm always happy to play a Blood Gulch/Coagulation/Hemorrhage, Valhalla/Ragnarok/Viking, or Sidewinder/Avalanche map. Plus, I wish I could see other classics that I personally loved get re-made or re-imagined too like Waterworks, Highlands, and Longbow, but then again I do love completely new maps too. Some original Halo 5 BTB maps within Matchmaking that I truly love are: Scavenger, Echoes, and Traffic Jam -- though I also really like Dispelled too. Those are some excellent maps to play on and I sure hope to see some additional original maps make their way into the H5 BTB playlist too such as Descendant and Hinterlands.
