I was playing el dewrito too, the lobby chats are so awful it gave me nostalgia. It isn't a good MP game unless you can go to game chat and get called a ******.
Lot of UI problems with eldewrito (shortening to ED from now on). Makes setting up your own server a pain. Don't know why the **** they left alternate weapon skins in there from H4, and hitmarkers. Lot of really odd sound fx choices as well that make me question if anyone there is even competent lol. But overall a good product, I had fun.
The server browser is so ****ing glitchy it took me 10 minutes for it to stop freaking out so I could join a game. Speaking of which, someone join my server. [West Coast California Server] Team BR's. Once you're actually playing it's not half bad.
So I've been spending the week forging in Halo 3. My buddies have been bugging me since the release of the MCC to rebuild a number of the map edits that we made a decade ago. Most of the edits are just tweaks to inspire us to move around the map more, but some are group edits with vastly differing agendas made more for shits and giggles than anything. One such edit I dreaded remaking because one of my buddies went on a spree just crafting any thought that popped into his head. I remember years ago us having a conversation about risk and reward as an argument to which I just gave up at let him do what he wanted. It is only now years later after being killed by him God knows how many times seldom following him to his favorite kill spots I realize the full scope of his Madness and his idea of the reward for his risks.
Okay. Halo online is actually fun. It's basically Halo 3 with hitscan and a better strafe. The only problem is the distinct lack of playable maps. I'm going to get tired of Guardian pretty soon. I'm going to make some sort of derivative of Cobalt, but it won't be as 2 dimensional. I'm also trying to get Multi to make Trinity. As soon as some playable maps come out, especially 2v2's, I'll no life this ****. This is the first time I've been genuinely excited for Halo in 2 years. The bones are there, it's just up to forgers to keep this going with maps.
The object movement is a bit annoying. It can still be worked around. Just takes a little extra effort. Textures are kind of frustrating, but that can be worked around too. It's obviously not on par with Halo 5's forge, but it's definitely sufficient for building decent maps. I started working on something really boring just to get a feel for it.
This community NEEDS good core maps, player count doesn't even matter. Cobalt (or something like it) and Trinity would be a blast to play on in ED, hope they end up being made. The launch was a bit rough, but looking past the UI/Server Browser BS everything has been great so far, and it's only going to improve as time goes on. 0.6 is just the beginning, the devs aren't going to leave us with another 2 year gap between content updates this time around. Hopefully all this Server Browser stuff gets sorted soon, though. It's a real pain to deal with.
Trinity would be LIT in this. It's basically H3 with faster strafe, crouch strafing, an accurate utility weapon, and faster kill times.
