as we found out recently, it only needs to be visible to browse or search for it. A link will always work if you want certain ppl to see, but not all.
I don't understand why they're pitching it like some new thing when every Far Cry since FC2 had map sharing and popularity sorting. Granted it looks like they buffed the UI experience to include thumbnails and whatnot to put on par with Doom's snapmap, but to rebrand it completely as Arcade...I'm confused. Maybe i'm missing something.
Who knows? But the few snapshots they showed of custom maps where they were just kind of basic colors and such makes me curious whether geometry will be fully customizable or not. Though they also said they're providing "pieces" from Far Cry, Watch Dogs, and Assassins Creed, which makes me less optimistic about how customizable it'll be.
A cool idea, but its Ubisoft and I don't have any trust in them. They find new and increasingly creative ways to **** things up.
The Far Cry editor has always been pretty powerful, I doubt they'll change that. My interpretation of that quote was them saying they're pulling assets from not just Far Cry, but all Ubisoft titles to give to players to plop down. Pretty cool.
I feel like what your trying to achieve with your teleporter is what Multi achieved with the teleporters on Oblivion. You cant camp them, and you can come out tactically, correct? The only real issue I could see with it, is the clarity of entering it. Like at what point does the boundary catch my player. On Oblivion I know I'm entering the tele cause i'm committing to jumping into this hole. Those feel very purposefully built into the map where yours feels like an after thought that was tacked onto the wall, you know? Not that there is anything technically wrong with that, it just looks awkward.
I was assuming it's a teleporter receiver, not a sender? So it would be similar to Red Death, except instead of materializing out of thin air, you pop out of the wall? That was just my guess though, since I haven't seen it in action.
The irony here being that Xzamples critique of Legion on the 2s contest he was judging was that he couldn't tell where the tele cut off was. No clarity.
I think that was the least of my worries when playing Legion. I was in that goddamn death pit for more than half the match.
There's a CE-style sender that ports you into the lift, which shoots you onto the elevated platform. It's pretty easy to understand after using it like, once. EDIT: Legion's tele is also super obvious after using it once.
Has anyone actually tested, or looked at, this map or even looked at this teleporter we're all bitching about? It may be ****, I dunno. But how can anyone really tell from that one picture, from which people aren't even sure if it's a sender or receiver, or where it's counterpart is. And you can't even complain it looks bad. It's a blockout.
