I'm not surprised there is only a dozen submissions for the race track contest, but anyone else kind of disappointed there wasn't many WOW type tracks submitted? A couple of them are pretty cool and unique. I started one and of course never finished it as I just don't care to put in the effort to Forge these days, but I was hoping to see a slew of unknown names submission's with a bunch of random themes. I was working on a rat sized/Honey I shrunk the Spartan's race in a circuit board. If someone ones to adopt it they can. I boxed the whole thing in with the breakout blue flooring as the walls and ceiling, scripted it to spawn in the walls and ceiling 15 seconds after the map loaded to allow the natural lighting in and then pieces disappeared and I gave up. Here are a few of the pieces I created. Here is a bit of the layout with the color rings only as test directions for driving options as I was going to include multiple options for racers to go around or jump to get to the same destinations.
Dead from Halo, I made like 1/4th a track before I just got burnt out and quit to play another game. It has nothing to do with the subject of the contest for me, but just being burnt out. Plus I didnt want a circuit track as I feel they are boring, I wanted to use teleporters and clever tricks to make a track that goes downwards 100% of the time for maximum velocity. Every time Pug and I make something I can't help but think "this would be so much better if we waited for Halo 6". I mean combined we made 30 maps for Halo 5, im not trying to brag but just explain that you can only do so much before you get tired, im done. I have no energy for dealing with this game, I love looking at what people make and will still hang around to spectate. I know damn well I am not the only one who feels this way, and I think it is the main reason the competition did not get many entries, people are just tired, especially after following it up after a really sweaty, in-depth 1v1 contest .
Fun Fact: first map I ever made was a racetrack on Valhalla in Halo 3 - I used snipers and radio towers to make the path pre-geomerging discovery (read: they rolled around and made driving impossible). Then I went nuts on Foundry with shield doors, garbage bins, and mancannons. I'm gonna have to dig out the 360 and post those someday
My first experience with forge was replicating this catapult on sandtrap and screwing around with my cousin....One time he said he made a cool map but all it was, was a giant base where he had a hornet and I spawned out in the minefield with a pistol. I really miss the guardians.
Pffft, my first map was me adding pallet bases and blocking existing doors on Epitaph. Then I did the same thing on The Pit. I thought that was amazing. Once I found out you could make foundry however you wanted I went ballistic. Even before geomerging.
Holy hell I had forgotten about that sand trap catapult! I remember something called telerunning too, where you would make a bunch of teleporters on sand trap at different locations, and when you jumped into the first one (off the highest tower), you would just be shot across the map and fly through the next teleporter, and so on and so forth. I also remember trying for hours to flip the elephant... Man, life was so much simpler back then.
When Soldat forgets to spellcheck, but his heart is in the right place When you see dunco&purely make a map together Cmon take the ifunny bait
Removed the fog and added some more paths on this map. Stronghold size has been increased. While I like the art(or rather, the colors) it could definitly use some visual and lighting work, but layout first. Forgehub Link Waypoint Link
Weekly dose of SPAM because midterms and magazine layouts have got me fugged pretty hard yes the merged alpine/asteroid rocks are staying no the scattershot is not staying yes I know piece usage needs work I'll be updating the map visually and piece-wise over the next couple days so stay tuned
