WAY too dark, can't see anything. Right guys? RIGHT? @Dunco @Zombievillan @ every one of you that like that post
I'm gonna miss this thread when the next Halo comes out and all the randoms infest this place with on-topic garbage.
I second the key guy isn't buffed, everyone else is just nerfed opinion. So far for myself it's just an annoyance to play with a key and causes aggravation. I think a pickup that alters geometry and changes sightlines without using doors to block everyone's access to transitions within a map would be a much more acceptable concept. Btw I've seen a cooler key. It's pretty dope. and it doesn't only make sense on castle maps. Guess you'll all have to wait.
If someone grabs an over-shield, or any other pickup, does it suddenly nerf the health of other players? Or does it only buff the player who picked it up? We know the answer. The key guy has an advantage because that's what pickups do. Even then, it's not a straight up "I win" advantage like almost any other power up or weapon in Halo 5. The key actually requires the player to actively make decisions. It's by far the most balanced and deep power up we've ever had in Halo. But seriously, the key doesn't "nerf" other players.
Feeling 'nerfed' is something that most people feel anytime there's a powerup or power weapon on a map too. That's why people constantly ***** about them on maps. There may be a difference in how people express their frustration with them, but it's almost always a result of feeling relatively helpless when encountering players that have them. This mindset is one of the things that annoys me about the Halo population in general. But yeah, I don't think it's an opinion that's exclusive to Keys at all. It's an overriding opinion that's just expressed in different ways. It's one I've been arguing against for years. Someone could argue that the relative strength of an item (powerup, power weapon, key) makes one different than the other, and I can even understand that argument, but it doesn't make any difference in the mind of the person that feels helpless. At that point they're all the same. It's just like the age old argument of asymmetrical maps being unbalanced. Well...yeah they are, but it's a perspective that's been blown out of proportion by a segment of the population that's unwilling to consider anything that lies even a little bit beyond what they see as 'balanced' (which requires perfect symmetry). Balance always comes in shades of gray, but that doesn't change the fact that some people either can't or aren't willing to see these shades, and only see black and white. And on some level there's validity in seeing only black and white, when you have a very specific experience that you're attempting to create. It's all relative, except to the mind that's fixed.
