Your team either has the key or doesn't. Meaning you either have access to key doors or dont. At any point you are 1 kill away from key possession. It's not a powerup that spawns ever 3 minutes for 30 seconds, the thing is literally always in play. If people don't enjoy the fundamental concept that someone might be moving faster than you that's fine, I don't care. But the word play going on here to try and make something seem like something it's not is ridiculous.
I still think you should try making a map with the same atmospheres as one of your kings bane WIP (not sure which one it was greenish and felt really cool)
This is one thing I think everyone has gotten wrong so far. Playing "without the key" doesn't just mean you're at a disadvantage and that's it. Yes, you're at a disadvantage (because that's what powerups do) but it's not as cut and dry as an overshield or even a damage boost. The non key-holding player can actually predict where the key holder is going to come from based on the fact that key-players will naturally be attracted to doors. You can set up and bait the key guy just to have your teammate sneak through the door as the key guy retreats through it. The key adds another level of depth and opportunity to everyone on the map at all times.
Thats a good point, because if a team has any skill, the other team should not just snowball them cuz they have the key. If they continually have the key, then theres the sign that matchup was never going to end well. I think its pretty fair that there is a new scramble to get the next key whenbthe hilder dies. Like immediately.
Anyone who has ever put literally any power weapon in Halo 5 on their map has no room to complain that someone getting the key is better. All those weapons literally grant you free ****ing kills, and you get uncomfortable at the idea that someone is out positioning you. Holy **** man. It's literally the fairest power weapon Halo has ever had.
Arguing about key maps, the WAYWO never changes haha. I wanna build one though. I have a theme no body has done, or at least done well. I'll have to think of a layout.
At the end of the day, if you don't like key maps you don't like them. If you don't like arcanum, but think you might like a key map that is "designed properly' then you owe it to the community to show us what you believe is a good key map. Far as I'm concerned, arcanum is the best example of the key concept yet.
I respect that there is a (mostly) healthy discussion on a concept that is new to the game, but we all know what happens when something popular comes out and everyone follows it to try ripping off its success.... This energy is better spent making new concepts as opposed to trying to make one that already works "better". Or is the Forge community going to get complacent...
