You guys realy think he's going to be offended by what i said? He'll probably just have a laugh and start roasting me and then get 20 likes, because dunco Don't try to over interpret my "tone" this is mearly text. It's easy to create vein imaginations that i'm a condecending prick, but i'm not. All i did was state facts
The problem I see with the current ForgeHub community is the members saying "we don't want a forum with sewers." Well guess what, I've made more sewers than you have forged in your entire life. Halo should have as many sewers as possible. Members go play white cell.
No, stating that you don't think dunco or ascend deserve forge critic status is an opinion that you didn't need to share to make your point.
Precisely why I thought we would give the Forge Critic role more importance. We want that role to mean something special and hopefully we'll be able to articulate that over time. Here's what the role offers as of now: - Map Reviews weighed x2.5 times greater than regular members - Nominate a map for Community Favorites (helps chances of getting picked) - Monthly Community Favorite votes weighed x5 times greater than regular members
no reason why it shouldnt be important now, im behind the new changes; this way the role means something
I like the update in principle, the problem is the people who HAVE that power at the moment. Some of them simply arn't qualified. I'm not sure what the current peramitiers are, but here is my thesis • Someone who is capable of keeping their emotions in check • Someone who can elaborate on why the map is objectively worse or better • Someone who understands objective art standards, like the golden ratio and color palate • Someone who understands objectice design standards (pertaining to the maps goals) • Someone can articulate themselves in a clear and cohesive manner • Someone who can propose examples in order to further the understanding of their indovidual points .... So pretty much like no one here on FH. Yes these are ideal traits, but the title should be given to those who at least fullfil most of these qualities
Am I that predictable? Yes. Yes I am. Spoiler: Roasting of Soldat -You say I'm an unnotable forger yet everyone seems to know of my maps. What have you done exactly? No, I'm serious. What have you made cus' I've never heard of any of your maps?
Im just gonna come out and say at least to my knowledge everyone that has the forge critic label is capable of making pretty good stuff, and therefore is capable or realizing what is actually good content. Last time I checked you didn't have to be an amazing director to be an amazing movie critic. Edit: It would however be nice to have a list of all the forge critics, and to know how they got the title. Pretty sure War just gives it to people he thinks are capable of giving decent feedback and such whenever he gets the chance.

Back in the day xforgery had an on site XF Shop where you could spend XF points and buy things on the site it was really really cool. So you'd get like 30 points if your map was nominated for monthly feature, if it won you'd get 100. 1 point per post. 10 for posting a map. Stuff like that. Then you could go to the shop and buy stuff. They didn't like that staff had special colored names so that just made it so you could spend like 150 points and buy a color for your name so everyone had cool colors and stuff. I remember they even had some trolly stuff. Like for 300 points you could change someone else's profile picture/sig/user title for a day. Someone made mine an open butthole once. Couldn't complain. You could even fake ban someone so their name was crossed through and the title said banned but they could still post. Uhh, you could buy a larger signature but that's not really relevant because we aren't anal about that, but there's a lot of potential there. Maybe for like 100 points you could push your map to the front page of FH in a special slot. Idk just brainstorming, the point system was cool
Derail attempt number 1. Since I am going full boar on designing **** again. I started dreaming of blockouts I haven't even made again.
My issue is how the Forge Critic role is given, it seems to have just been given to people who made a good map one time, not people who put effort into a detailed review. I've basically never seen a forge critic review and if I have it's for a good map where its not needed as much, reviews for nearly flawless maps are so easy to do. I say if you hardly ever review a map you don't deserve the role.
Trust me you don't want me reviewing maps. I wouldn't give alot of the maps with really good scores nearly as high of a score and it will piss people off.
So, I'm a little confused Why is the issue of people having forge critic even a slight problem? The only significant point of the role is for voting community favorites, since map reviews are so few and far between, their influence on them doesn't matter much anyway. I really have a hard time understanding why something so small would matter to anybody at all "Oh no! (Insert person here) doesn't take their maps 100% seriously at all times, it must mean that they can't be critical of other people's maps, oh the travesty"
