Been working on slot of scripting things at the moment. My first thing I've put a lot of dedicated hours and thoughts into this. I also put a lot of heart into my work to expand the replay value of this game. 1st thing, Reach' s Generator Defense. PvE mode that never got much recognition. It's now PvP. 1-sided. I COULD do a heavily nerfed, 2sided version based on player feedback tho, but this mode needs feedback the most. https://www.forgehub.com/threads/generator-defense-v1-2-update-11-15-17.156577/ Also, been working on Mercy Rules to try and get them implemented into Matchmaking at some point. Currently I have a BTB Slayer Mercy Rule that works. Working on Objective ones, and a new game mode. Been looking at VIP, Juggernaut, and Regicide, but have an idea on making a new game mode inspired from these 3.
So, I need a prefab (cuz I'm lazy and I'm sure someone has done it really well already) of one of the big UNSC Capital ships for a little project Iwant to do... Preferably, the one from the Halo 5 Menu Screen... at leas very similar. Which of these is best, or is there one that's better? https://www.forgehub.com/maps/unsc-spirit-of-fire.4781/ https://www.forgehub.com/maps/unsc-charon-class-frigate.5274/ https://www.forgehub.com/maps/unsc-midnight-v1.4713/ Thanks,
@LazyStudio is either holding all of these just to dump at once, or they aren't his maps. I'm not making an accusation but if it is the former, then he needs to plan out the releases better out of respect for the site. Also also, counting pre-fabs as "# of maps posted" for a person should be removed. Prefabs, as useful as they can be, are not maps.[/QUOTE] Dude... I hardly get on here ever to upload maps. I am a working man. I chose my day off to upload my content. Just so happens I had many maps I had forgotten about. I decided to upload them with the time I had. Yes these are my maps. Out of all the mean things people have said on this site I think you insinuating that they were not my maps angered me the most. I agree with you about the pre fabs... They shouldn't be counted as maps. I feel like the site should change not the user when it comes to when I want to upload and how much I want to upload. We forgers are the ones making this website exist. Not the other way around.
sir, kindly go back and read word, for word, what I wrote. I specifically made sure anyone reading could NOT read it the way you just did. EDIT: I even tagged you with the @ symbol out of respect so that you were not having people talk about you behind your back...
Just because you say with all due respect doesn't mean you get to say whatever you want. - Ricky Bobbi Your statement had no basis for even being said. Thus by saying what you said you were being insinuating. I mean an example would be you see a guy hauling a bunch of dirt on the road and you say. Im not making an accusation but I think that guy stole that dirt. There was no motive for your comment.
I don't see any issue with dumping multiple maps or the quality of the post. Why do people feel the need to have their map on the first page? Why care about how much effort someone else puts into their work? The maps section is meant to be a library of all maps so if someone is looking for something in particular, make sure your map is identified, categorized, and documented so that it can be found. I don't only check the front desk at the library for what was recently added, I search the database, browse the shelf, and ask friends for recommendations. But I've never cared about download counts and only read waywo anymore so my opinion probably doesn't have a lot of weight. I'd never have posted a map here if it weren't a requirement of the 1v1 contest.
The library doesn't categorize its books by release date so that isn't a fair comparison. It would be like if your library had a series of shelves lined up on a wall with the oldest books on the right and the newest on the left on the new shelf, an overwhelming amount of people would check the first shelf for what is new, then they would move on with their day. Sure you can still get recommendations from others and whatnot, but if you are a regular joe you won't really go past a few shelves. It's not that anyone is obsessed with being on the front page, its that they feel robbed of exposure for the map they worked hard on, which is the main point of this site. In order to get those recommendations that guy has to see your map in the first place, which me might not do if its multiple pages down .
Because there's no productive and useful, and I use that phrasing lightly because... well WAYWO, activity going on outside of WAYWO. I, personally, don't want to post a map that's going to be filed away and only located by searching the database for my tags due to how the community has become. This can be to blame for multiple reasons: The lulls of activity from game to game, site format, and the members themselves. However, I feel like FH has shifted from a community that helps build forgers to a community with some false sense of exclusivity and a separation between map posts and discussion. It's really hard to integrate into a community where the only real way to become familiar with regulars is through WAYWO since it's kind of an intimidating front. Some discussion does happen in the Map List section, but definitely not as in-depth or regularly as it is given through WAYWO. I feel this can be fixed by reverting or revamping the map section. It's not so much that people (speaking subjectively, of course) feel the need to have their map on the first page, but rather posting a map usually isn't a one-and-done type of deal. You post, people play, feedback is given, you improve. If it gets pushed into the abyss of endless pages of maps while you're still trying to receive feedback and are actively seeking it by responding to feedback then that's game for you because you no longer are relevant unless searched for. I feel like you should be rewarded with being first page if you're still improving your map actively, regardless if that's with a map file update, a comment representing your progress, or replying to others suggestions. This also moves the amalgam of a discussion out of WAYWO (in a perfect world, I guess) and back into the different facets of the forum.
The map page would be better suited to fit four features at the top 10% larger than they are now and all of the other postings should be thumbnails just about the size of the current features and this way you can fit 4 times as many thumbnails on the same front page. If people want to see only 2 vs 2 size, they can click the search criteria on the side to see those. We really don't need all of the horizontal space and info on the map page. We only need the thumbnail, the authors name and maybe the player size / infection / minigame etc...
Feedback noted. Also if you guys would like to fully throw ideas without them getting lost, go here and post a thread please. https://www.forgehub.com/forums/feedback-and-suggestions.347/
I like how everyone's long winded solutions are restructuring the website to avoid the problems WAYWO creates rather than, dare I say it, just deleting WAYWO. WAYWO IS OP. PLEASE NERF OR REMOVE. Public statement: I do not actually condone or support the deletion of waywo.
Is anyone really worried about their maps not getting exposure because a ton of other maps were released? Let's be honest, maps are not getting released at a fast enough rate for everyone's maps to just go and disappear from the first page and from existence, buried beneath other maps. Besides, what I do, and I'm sure everyone else does when checking the maps section is scroll back to the last map I saw and look through them from there. Besides there's always gonna be times when a load of maps are spammed at once, especially after the release of a new halo, whether they're from one forger or not. It's not like people only test or play the first few maps on the map page. No they play the best looking ones instead. P.s. I know he's not always being mean and is just giving critism but for some reason whenever I read feedback from extraspicymemes I read it in my best sarcastic arsehole voice. I also feel I'm not the only person that this effects lol.
