I'm in a similar boat. I have an OK laptop and would like to transition into some other software, but I don't think my laptop could keep up. I'm considering selling some of my guitars to get a legit setup, but it would be nice to dip my toes in a bit with another program first if that's possible.
I would not assume your laptops can't run 3d wireframe editors... do the research to disprove that first. Don't sell a guitar unless you have to
If you care about your battery, I wouldn't use any. However, if you don't mind it being always plugged in and possibly demolishing your battery, then they'll all probably run fine. The games you're making or building for will likely not run well and your light building etc may be somewhat slow but it should work just fine. I had a laptop that was a piece of junk and I've used hammer to build portal maps (which ran fairly smooth on lowest settings), Reflex Arena's editor and unity for a long time. I actually put off getting a computer because despite me having to turn it off to cool down every 20-30 minutes because my fan was broke, it worked. Haha
Well the people on this thread are the people whose opinions I'd respect the most on this subject, so I basically am doing research by asking for recommendations here...lol
I mean, specific comparisons of specs vs what you can expect for performance with those programs. But far be it from me to slow someone's purchase of a PC, at which point you'll probably start using your console as a door stopper, paper weight, or better yet, Netflix device.
In my extremely limited experience, Blender seems like it may be good option if you're working from a laptop.
Almost there! This ended up being a lot more complicated than I originally thought. As one would expect, forge has some previously unknown flaws that made expensive workarounds required. Look closely, you can see several test elements littering my test area on Coliseum. This should be ready for testing within a day or so... (EDIT: is ready, just needs to be pre-fab'd out and Special version of Coli shared) (WIP) Flare now targets, tags, and then chases up to four individual targets (demo'd with two targets)
