My Foundry map has a three-story building set against one of the corners of the main room. The double boxes that form the building's outer perimeter are placed as close to the walls as possible, but there's still a slight gap. Not big enough to fall into or even to get stuck in, but there. Since the map is designed for all game types, and since one of the objectives (defensive flag/bomb spawn) is on the roof of this building (albeit on the corner furthest from the walls), I'm worried about the flag/bomb/oddball falling into these gaps, either by accident or on purpose. I've tested it out in solitary custom games, and it definitely is possible. To counteract this somewhat, I've placed concrete barriers on their sides along the length of the longest edge, filling most of that gap. Also, on the wall with the windows (where the gap is big enough to get stuck in) I've placed a double wall and a sign. These objects prevent people from falling in, but there are still small spaces between them where an objective could fall through. Here's a screenshot of the area, with the problem gaps circled: Now, I know that objectives are designed to respawn if they're not touched for awhile. I also know that it is impossible to fix this problem any more than I already have, since I'm nearly out of budget and geomerging what's already there is out of the question. Given this, should I be worried? Can these small gaps be exploited enough to ruin objective games? What would you do with this?
hard to geomerge only using window panels though, me and sushi tried it but it was fail. i'm sure it could work though.
I'm out of window panels. Used three to cover up one of the office windows and the others to patch miscellaneous problems...
Temporarly delete the doors and use them to merge, or if you have barrels and pallets etc, delete em.
Again, geomerging this late in the game is not an option. The map is 99% done -- geometry, weapons, equipment, spawn points, etc. are all in place -- and it really only needs testing at this point. In fact, the only reason I noticed these gaps as a potential gameplay problem was when I was dry-running different ways of moving the various objectives around the map. Anyway, since the outer double boxes are an integral part of the building, geomerging them into the wall would require completely moving the entire three-story structure a foot or so closer to the corner. It's just not feasible. Any other ideas? Or should I just not worry about it?
It is entirely possible. If object are in your way while merging just set them to not spawn at start. Problems like these are one best dealt with during the build. If it was me I would merge to the wall and i would interlock the short sides of the double boxes also. Its your choice though.
but you have to understand, us premiums are neat freaks, it is not necessary but a nice touch that shows dedication.
No, that's not what I meant. I'm saying that if I geomerge the boxes that are right next to the wall, there will be a gap between them and the next row of boxes. So I'll have to move them over. Then I'll have to move the walls over. And the balconies. And the stairs. And every other element in the entire building...
