You had me until the comment about the matchmaking maps. What's your rank? I'm high Onyx for dubs the past several seasons and maps like Eden/Empire can craaaaaaaawl until powerups come up. Then you get 1 push, and repeat.
Only the bad ones. I said since forever that designing exterm maps like glorified octagons was a flaw with the design. I had a map I was working on with Purely Fat that was designed with 2v2 spawning in mind, but still would have played Exterm because each area was easy to check. It's possible. The issue with Nemesis is that two players can sit behind cover and spawn the other team in the extact same positions. I looked at a less symmetric version with War and Seth recently that had 20% more playspace off to one side, and it easily would have supported 2v2 because you couldn't safely influence those extra spawn areas.
"I am here today to again apologize for the personal mistakes I have made and the embarrassment I have caused. I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife, Warholic." - Anthony "Dunco" Weiner In all seriousness, when did all of this **** slinging start? ****-sliging =/= banter
I have tremendous respect for the amount of work that has gone into making this website the bastion of the Forge community. It's also the one of the few relevant places to talk about video games without asinine moderation. However, I think it's clear at this point that there are some issues with the moderation therein, and the quality of forum posts simply reflect that. War has a habit of deflecting public opinion to push his own agenda - which isn't inherently bad if he feels strongly about an idea he wants to do. However, it has been stated in these numerous instances, from the 2v2 contest and 4v4 playlist to website updates and now this, that sometimes those ideas can be better implemented. Imagine if the country were run that way where Trump could just pass a law without any opinions from people who - to put it frankly - knew more about the law than he did? That's how ForgeHub has felt for the last 2 years (although I don't think War is a Trump voter...lol) Anyway, people have already given feedback on Nemesis. The deflection of that, especially acknowledging the fact that there already was a 2v2 version of Nemesis, is (and I hate this word) problematic. Furthermore, the insistence on Storm Peaks being "a bit too large for 2v2s, but okay for those who prefer it" is rather weird. I don't think the map is too big. If you put two passive teams on it, then yea it's not going to go anywhere, but that's true for almost every map unless you don't have anywhere to spawn safely like Nemesis. On Storm Peaks however, the map allows you to play aggressively, and the aggressive team is going to win, so the mental game on that map comes down to who cycles better. That encourages and rewards fast gameplay instead of forcing it, and it's honestly one of my favorite 2v2s in the game (aside from Rockets not working). I personally don't have any problem with Nemesis - not because it's War's map, not because it's symmetric, and not because it's "boring" or "easy to learn" or whatever anyone may have said before. I just don't think the current version on his files supports 2v2 the way his previous versions would have.
At least its entertaining, usually its like 20 posts of people "roasting" maps, its nice to see some real insults for once.
hopefully the site doesn't burn down with it i'm with goat, this is the only place I hear any intelligent criticism from people with any experience
Speaking of which, I just stumbled on a kids game design camp They're learning in minecraft --- Double Post Merged, Aug 8, 2017 --- I don't know if that's a good thing but I can certainly see the writing on the wall for halo 6 and other Microsoft 'DIY' software direction
